(Wiping tears off his eyes) oh you kids, I still remember when I went through something similar, right after W19. This brings back so many good memories! (Sniffles)

I like Rafa and would love to see him overtake Federer's slam title haul but these easy, mickey mouse draws are a huge drawback for me when it comes to celebrating his legacy. His last two US Open titles couldn't have been more easy. He should pay Federer and Djokovic for beating up themselves in that Wimbledon final because that's what took them out physically for the US OPen.

Wimbledon took Fed out physically for the US Open?

What happened the previous decade?

No, I knew it was over. You saw it in Feds face. You had the tiebreaker looming as well.

I sat in total depressed silence the rest of the match.

What are your top 3 most heartbreaking losses?

Mine are:

1 - Wimbledon 2018 ( Mostly because I really felt like Rafa was the better player )
2 - AO17 ( Up a break and felt like he was going to take it )
3 - AO12 ( As above but wasn't as confident knowing it was Novak )

Rafa is the king of clay...but definitely not the king of blue clay :p
Serena Williams called both Rafa and Novak "weenies" after they threw a hissy fit over the blue clay in Madrid.
Serena and Federer respectively went on to win the titles on blue clay without much fuss.
Federer again proves that when you're a sublime tennis player who can win with technical excellence instead of relying on the conditions of the courts and grinding your way to a win, you're a true marvel in your sport. Same with Serena.
Rafa on the other hand was mopey and upset that he couldn't read the ball or bounce on blue clay as he got dumped out in the early rounds. So much for a champion! LOL
Play the game and stop whining Rafa! LOL

Mine are:

1- AU2014 final against Wawrinka: Djokovic out and Nadal won all previous matches against Wawrinka. I didn’t think Nadal could loss that match
2- AU2017 final against Fed: after this match, I didn’t believe that Nadal can catch Fed’s Slam number anymore.
3- WI2012 R2 against Rosol: shock. Nadal never out before Final at 5 previous seasons in a row.

I have been watching the final over and over as well. It really was a good match! Much higher quality than I thought that day. And Med did his new fans, and tennis fans in general, good! He showed up and came to play after Nadal gave him chances.

And just FYI, I also still re-watch the 2018 Wimbledon semi between Nadal and Djokovic quite often, even though Nadal lost. That was just some great new grass tennis!

You are actually a very classy Fed fan. I’ve been reading the forums on and off for some time now before I decided to make an account and I have to say you’re probably the most respectful Fed fan towards Rafa here.

Thanks
Welcome, and thanks. Yeah, I do like Rafa as well, but I will take some lighthearted shots at him from time to time. :p But how can you not like Rafa? My wife has been trying to convert me for over a decade... she will never prevail, but she has made me like Rafa quite a bit.

Has to be WC19 the worst, then WC08, as I wanted that 6th one bad, and maybe Delpo USO simply because it came out of nowhere.

I rarely watch Nadal play (for obvious reasons), but I tuned in for much of the USO final.

After all these years, the same ol' schtick. Ramped up even to account for age.

Honestly, I have to assume that his supporters have no qualms with underhanded play whatsoever. On full display for the world, so no one can claim ignorance.
I mean, not everyone will agree on things, as many dislike Fed, and I have no clue how you could. On the flip side, I dont understand how you could like Djoker, yet many do. Each person is different and has different tastes. It all comes down to how you react to it.

While I am not extremely bothered at it as you are, it is some of the reasons why I never liked him as much as Fed. That being said, it is also their similarities that make me like both.

I assume you are referring to the antics? Sure I wish he would just get to it and play, but blame the umpires for not doing their jobs and enforcing it, not Rafa. Plus, not everyone can be Fed. ;)

And it’s still feels superb special. How many times have people rewatched that final?
It just feels good after all the injuries and the 2015 and 2016 seasons, and after all the crap we have had to hear about Nadal being a one trick pony, or being Finnish. He's performing better than anyone would have expected at this stage of his career and breaking all the records. Winning slams in his teens, 20s, and 30s. One step away from the slam AND masters record.

Yeah, it's good to be a Nadal fan right now.

What underhanded play? Nadal has never liked to play while the public is being noisy. It's a legitimate objection. The USO crowd can be very noisy.

The slippery blue clay in Madrid was dangerous for players.
(y) for Rafa, the King of Clay, to protest against the blue clay. i.e. to protect players from injuries.

As for whining, everyone knows that Fed has been the biggest whiner on the Tour. He has whined about the speed of the courts since at least 2008. NYT, January 13, 2008: Fed: "Everything is already slowing down..."
Fed & his devotees, stop whinig! LOL

Sounds like a S-load of excuses for not being able to even beat Verdasco. That from serving for the match twice too lmao.

Do you know what the word "whining" means?

Your comment makes me wonder why some Rafa haters pretend to like him.
