If you read the info about the Clash series of racquets it states pretty clearly that it was developed for the modern swing path - low to high. If you don’t hit with good spin from low to high then I don’t think you will like this stick as it tends to launch the ball and control goes out the window. Also, the flex is great, but it also is very stable and when hitting big balls feels stiffer. It’s called the Clash because although it is flexible, it is also stable with power - usually only found in two different racquets.
Watching the French player on p. 22 is evidence of this. He’s hitting with good power but still able to control the ball through use of spin.

Just wanted to mention that I saw a pic Margarita Gasparyan posted today on Instagram and she is using the Clash--or at least her racquet has the Clash paint job.

I've had mine for a little over two weeks now, and I love the control it's giving me compared to my old racquet. I've also noticed a lot more of them around at the various courts I've been to in Chicago.

Has anyone tried/used both the Clash Tour and v7 Blade 16x19? Which hits a heavier ball?
Based on my experience with the Clash Tour, 100, and previous generation Blades, I'm gonna say the Blade. The Clash (Tour or 100) doesn't have enough mass to compete with the Blade. The Tour maybe would if it were weighted differently, but because it's so head-light it's not in the same class as the Blade.

When you select your racquet, make sure to go through the lot and weigh them, my clash 98 weighed 315.5 unstrung, they all weigh different. I wanted the heaviest one. Plenty of plow through, spin, and comfort. My favorite racket ever.

Have you tried the new Blade? Which one do you think hits a heavier ball?

After lowering the tension from 50 lbs to 40 in three 5 steps, poly mains SG crosses(+ 3) gave me a string bed I could use. I could feel the flex, but my lone Phantom 100P jsut feels better and the ported Phantom 100 is easier for me to generate spin, all with sinilar string set ups, but the Phantoms are in the miiiiiiid 40;s.

Picked up a Clash. 6g@3-9, weight in the handle for 327-325-32bal

Tried it with alu power soft and now HyperG. HYPER G adds a good touch of control and spin to that that racquet!

I dig this stick but the biggest issue i have with it right now is I am having issues hitting a flat first serve, all my slice serves are fine. I wonder if my mechanics of my serve motion coupled with the flex of the Clash are preventing me from hitting nice hard first serves? I go back to my K Factor or Blade and no issue.

Wilson just announced that you can customize the Wilson Clash. They are allowing customization to the 100, 100L and 100 Tour.

Can somebody talk about a few hybrid stringing combinations they've used in their 100s please? Also please compare the results to an extent too. Thanks.

I Sent an email to Wilson about this. They replied as there is no plan of releasing 98 custom.
Guess that means no Clash 98 custom(at least not recently)

Yes, tried both new blades, definitely liked the 18/20 better but once you dial in the clash 98, nothing like it
How many here are playing the clash 98? How does it compare to the new blade v7 in your opinion? And did some of you try the clash 100 or the 100 tour?

I played the 100 leaded up, and loved a lot of things about it, but in the end missed a tad of control on groundstrokes, and I just couldnt hit a winner with it. I had the 100 Tour but those came in way over spec with 343 grams swingweight. Now thinking about the 98.

I had plenty of time to play with all the clash’s and both new blades. Of the two blades, the 1820 had great control but nothing special, once I got my hands on the clash 98, it was the special racket I’ve been looking forward to. Spin, power, comfort, if anything sometimes lack of control but probably just me. We went through all the 98’s in the store and found a clash 98, 6 ozs heavier than listed, gonna play with string now and get myself another one. All this imo

I am coming from the Pure Strike over to the Clash because of elbow issues I am still not fully recovered from. I am trying to decide if I should go Clash 100 or Clash 100 Tour. In studying up on arm friendly racquets I learned that heavier racquets (when comparing two) are typically more comfortable racquets. However, when looking at the TW review scorecard they give the 100 model a 90 for comfort and the Tour model an 89. I understand that is almost the same score, but I was actually anticipating the Tour model being scored as more comfortable.

My elbow is still healing but have already pretty much mentally committed towards moving to the Clash. Just need to make the final decision...Clash 100 or Clash 100 Tour. Any suggestions for me?
89 v 90 .. come on, lol. Close your eyes and go for the heavier version whether that's 100 tour or 98, Chuck the 100. By the way Prince Phantom is also arm friendly but low powered unlike Clash series , not interested to try those ?

What racket did you play before you mad the switch to the clash? What strings are in your clash at what tension?

I think I will demo the clash 98 and decide between that and the Blade. Problem with the blade is my serve, i cant get what I am used to on my serve with the blade.

i was using the Yonex dr98, my clash has 4g at 52 lbs.i think I will try a softer string next

I found a "Customer Reviews" comment with some good points for Clash 100.

Comments: This is a great doubles racquet. This is not a frame I would consider a control frame. When playing singles it lacked touch and feel. With doubles it's great for returns and is stable for volleys with plenty of put away power. I use my RF 97 for singles. I find I like the stick best with .5g blue tack in the tail and strung 54 pounds Tour Bite 16 and 53 pounds 16g Pro Hurricane Tour. That dials in the control for me.

The Clash Tour has a nice swing weight. If there’s anyway you can get your hands on one give it a try.

Could add some weight. I've been testing with weight placement. It's been good lately with 6g@3-9, and 8 in the handle.

@TagUrIt after your suggested thread, I finally got my 100 strung with Luxilon ALU Pow / Techni X-one bi : 52 / 55 lbs and boy the control came out good in shots hit with proper full swing along with the comfort of the multi. Adjusted my crushing shots for angle and bingo. Sweet spot cracking shots felt so good. New to hybrid stringing, thats why the high enthu.
Thanks!
PS : Can't decide what my next clash would be 100 / 98.

Has anyone been successful with the Clash 100 and one handed slice backhands? My previous racket was a 2010 Blade Team and I hit a wicked slice with that racket. With the Clash, I don't seem to be generating the same spin. It doesn't have as much bite. Also struggling with my backhand drop shot. Has anyone else had this problem? Also, can you control flat balls? They seem to be flying, but I probably should hit with more topspin anyway. It is strung with gut (not sure which brand) at 56. My Blade was also strung with gut.

I’m far from an expert player but I’ve been happy with those shots on my Clash 100 non-Tour which supposedly has Tour Bite strung at 51, compared to my other racquets. And yes with the flat shots I do sometimes hit a little long.

I have no trouble generating nasty slices, as well as defensive slices both backhand and forehand. I'll just say this - if it feels good in a demo, commit to the Clash and give it time for you to adjust to it and you will likely be happy. I use a Clash 100 with a little weight in the butt and a couple 5-6 inch strips lead at 3 and 9. As I said above, Klip legend mains and fairly soft poly crosses at 55/50lbs.

It took me about 2 months but now I am truly hitting better than ever, with the confidence to really go for some shots. But I am a 3.5/4.0 level player so as with everything YMMV.

Thanks! That's very encouraging. Glad to hear that nasty slices are possible! My nasty slice is my favorite shot :) I probably just need more time to get used to it... It's only been a few weeks that I've been playing with it exclusively.

The 98 is really really good! It is everything I missed on my 100. Control and flat shots are so much better!
I agree. I demoed the 100 Tour and liked the feel quite a lot, but forehand was all over the place. The 98 is much more focused and predictable. At first I only modified by swapping in a leather grip, but after a couple of months I was feeling like every shot was an upgrade except the forehand. Not wild like the 100, more like timing just always felt a little off. I added just 2g of lead to the tip and voila, forehand fixed. I haven't measured swingweight, but static weight strung with overgrip and dampener is 346g. Very happy with the 98.

I do like the 98...But in match play...need something lighter...But not as light as the 100... I will add some head tape to my 100 to bring the swing weight up..

What are you guys stringing your 98 Clash with? And at what tension? Strung my 98 with poly plasma pure 1.23 @ 22/21 kg and felt that was too hard. Felt like 20/19 would have been better. At 22kg I missed the pocketing feel
