Bruh, this is by far the best outfit of Djokovic's grand slam career. Lacoste went all in its bag for this one.

Great achievement but also highlights his poor record here in finals. The first 2 in his career was fair enough due to not being the player he was post 2010 but he has had some upsets here hopefully he makes it right on Sunday
This is Lebron kind of situation. He has to win 1 more final.

Have some faith…maybe he will go for all the major records this year. Mathematically possible! And winning four Slams in 12 months is something he knows how to do. Go for 21 in 21!

PS: I’m not betting on it though.
One more match for him to achieve the goal I set for him on Jan 29th:)

Can't believe he's only a match away from the greatest season of his career at 34. I gave up on the simple thought of a CYGS after 2016.

Slayed the ghosts of Olympics in emphatic fashion.. How many times he has done this..Thiem was behaving badly in 2019, put him in place in AO 2020.Medvedev was behaving badly, put him on place in AO 2020 and now with Sacha..GOAT..:love:

Do you guys think Medvedev represents a harder or softer challenge for Djokovic compared to Zverev? I haven't watched much of Meddy recently but I know he's had good results. I feel like Zverev serve is better, and Zverev hits the ball bigger while being nearly as consistent from the back of the court.

I dont see Med having a chance. Novak is peaking. Imo Med was lucky vs. van de Zandschulp. Had he lost that 4th set he goes out. Weather will also be on Novaks side. Pretty hot and humid. Not as bad as in Tokyo but Med nearly collapsed in those conditions. If everything goes normal Novak is winning in 3 Sets.

You summed it up nicely. Zverev was big threat. Medvedev can't even generate the offense. His hope is Nole self imploding. But that won't happen

Similar.
Zverev is more predictable than Medvedev, but Medvedev's style is less punishing.

I just hope this loss won't crush him mentally and fuel him instead for AO 2022.

Is he guaranteed to end the year as #1 ?

Off course not! If anything it's Medvedev, who thanks to this win closing n on Novak rapidly in ATP race rankings! Now the difference is something like 2000 pts...this means Djokovic has to put some effort in order to finsh first! And Medvedev and Tsitsipas have to choke too...

Not to be, but at least he gave us the opportunity to watch someone at least play for the grand slam.

I wasn't alive to see Laver play for it, or anyone else. So this was a unique experience for me to watch as a tennis fan, regardless of the outcome. Novak's had a great year, probably more than even he was expecting.

The good thing for Novak is...the pressure is finally off. He can just play each slam as it comes. He must have been carrying a crazy amount of it after Wimbledon.
No pressure on him now. There’s nothing left for him to prove anymore and same for fed and Rafa too. The next gen were bound to breakthrough soon and I very happy for meddy.

Djoko fulfilled his main mission in catching fedal in slams. Anything else is just a bonus. I feel now though the changing of the guard will finally happen which is expected especially on hard courts. Novak will have big chances still at Wimbledon though if he fit and motivated.

Novak is still a pretty clear favourite in Australia going forward IMO. There's a reason why each and every next-gen breakthrough has happened at the end of the season at both the US Open and Year End Championships. Too much wear and tear has been accumulated at that stage in the season for the older guys to produce their best level, especially in this particular case with Novak coming off a 3 slam year where he was under tremendous mental as well as physical stress. As he said in press the pressure of the CYGS is finally off and he can come back refreshed next year for another big push in the slams. Obviously I am under no illusions that its going to get more and more difficult for Djokovic moving forward but I still feel he has a good few strong slam runs left in him.
