Rafa officially out

I don't think anyone is surprised that Rafa was only there to honour Roger. If it wasn't Roger's special occasion Rafa wouldn't have turned up at all. He has also said he doesn't know when he'll play competitive tennis next but confirmed that he wants to continue competiting.

Never have so many tickets for an event appeared on resale sites at the same time.
I was tempted to buy the cheap tickets but we live like two and a half hours drive from the O2 and it was too much to do that 3 days in a row. I’m so glad I didn’t get tickets because without Rafa there there’s no appeal for me.

The format was adjusted this year. More players for each team. Only 6 players in the past who all played doubs and 1 or 2 singles, I believe. 9 singles and 3 doubles.

This year there are 10 singles this year and only 2 doubles matches. So, obviously not all players on both teams will be playing doubs

Who says this? I think it's the same as always, one doubles match per day. The first and second day ends with a doubles match and the last day starts with one.

He was only there to play doubles with his retiring friend and fondest rival. Now that it’s over there’s no reason to stick around since he wasn’t playing singles.

The official LC site is showing 4 singles matches for Sunday with no doubles matches. Also, Sock is playing a 2nd doubs today. So, it appears that only 3 guys on Team World are playing doubs

Expected. I'm just thankful he came at all. It wouldn't have felt right for Fed to exit with anyone else. I really don't know who he even would've played with if Rafa had declined. Murray? Tsitsipas? Djokovic would've been a bit weird. The only one besides Nadal I'd rather see him play doubles with on his way out is Wawrinka, but obviously he wasn't here.

So thank you, Rafa. Means a lot that he showed up with everything he has going on at the moment. No one would've blamed him if he stayed home.

Laver Cup in Berlin will be a trash heap. Next year in Vancouver at least it will have that Canadian flavor and convenience after USO. But Berlin might be closing call.

I wonder how fans feel who paid 14k tickets...

Was a STH of Toronto Raptors and still have friends who own seats for many teams. The buyers for obscene resale tickets are usually monstrously rich or braindead morons. Either case never feel bad.

My 10 year old is fuming. Traveling to the UK with day tickets for Saturday, won't see either Rafa (his fave) or Nole. Even he thinks Norrie is just filler :-D

It's becoming a habit - we had tickets for the '21 RG final so he could see Rafa too!
That's such a shame. Hope he gets the opportunity to see them soon. I remember going to Abu Dhabi in 2012 with the hotel booked, tickets for 3 days and the day before it started Rafa pulled out to be replaced by Almagro. I was soooooooooooo disappointed.

How did nadals serve look? Is he still dropping the ball lower for contact? There is a chance that the ab with the scar tissue never heals meaning the serve will be permanent as well as hindering his movement… I hope this isn’t the case

Why can't you still see Nole? He's playing 2 matches on Sat

Bizarrely, Nole is playing back-to-back night session matches, a singles match against Tiafoe and then teaming with Berrettini against De Minaur/Sock.

The doubles match on the last day was replaced with a singles match this year.

Will Nadal play any tennis for the rest of this season?

I'd say it's unlikely given that he is about to have a child. Not playing would dash his chance to end as year-end #1 for a 6th time.

Yep, he confirmed at the award ceremony in Spain on Tuesday that he has no intention of retiring yet:
