I drew a picture about how Djokovic's post-pandemic career is going:

It is just such a weird hill for him to die on. How can not getting vaccinated mean more to him than competing in some of his favorite tournaments when he is about to turn 35?
Fear. He fears the vaccine more than he fears losing the chance to win titles for a few months.

Novak officially withdrew from Miami more than 10 days ago. He did not wait until the last minute. Or at least Miami had removed him from their list of players at that time.

And, yes, cases are rising again. So both France and England may be on the immigration exclusion table again. Since foreign nationals can't vote, there is very little incentive for any country to allow non-citizens to enter - if they decide to change entry rules again.

Maybe he never really cared about records that much.

I never said anything about records. I thought he would care about playing in some of his favorite tournaments more than he seems to do. The reference to his age was meant to be pointing out that he won't have all that many more opportunities to compete in those tournaments.

Do you really believe that?
I think he just thought he could get away with it by just sliding by. Past history shows many other famous people think they can bypass rules and regulations on the basis of their fame. Nole just got caught. That darn Instagram post.

He doesn’t see it that way though. He said in his BBC interview, he wasn’t worried about aging as he feels fine and thinks he has years to win titles, including Olympic gold when he’s 37.

Some people don’t want to see the probable consequences of their actions I guess

As someone else posted above. Covid cases are rising again. Issues about where and when he can play can change again very quickly

Is there something to fear from the vaccine?
(If so, I am in trouble.)

It is understandable that some might be nervous about mRNA vaccines as this is relatively new technology, although exhaustively tested in clinical trials. But there is no 'the vaccine'. There are over 30 vaccines and most are based on very old, tried and tested technology. There is no reason to feel any more nervous of having one of these than having a jab for tetanus, TB or an annual flu vaccine.

Anti-vaxx isn't a rational stance. It's a narcissistic and political one.

His refusal to participate in the mass human experiment is worth more than all the titles he's ever won. He could've been GOAT but he threw it all away to save humanity.
Even if he’s wrong, I admire the stubbornness.

It’s true, the narrative before was that Novak would do deals with Satan for the slam record, and Nadal only cared about chilling on his boat. That narrative is dead now.

Cases and hospitalisations are rising so fast in the UK that I predict by Wimbledon:
1) Djokovic won't be allowed to enter the UK unless he is vaccinated or
2) He'll arrive unvaccinated, catch COVID, test positive and have to isolate during the championships.
Or

3. He enters illegally on one of those illegal-immigrant trucks run by criminal organizations, changes his name to Djovak Nokovic, and wins Wimbledon.

No, wait, he'd still be unvaccinated.

Bad plan.

reminds me of 2016-2018 when he was too stubborn to get elbow surgery,
missed opportunities and let a renewed fedr cleanup for a while...

Yawn - give it a rest

Stop pushing your pro-vax agenda - everyone should be free to do as they please

Yes, everyone is free to take idiotic decisions.

Stop pushing your pro-surgery agenda, everyone is free.

Hopefully this Ukraine thing dies down soon so we can lock down again. Really sick of seeing so many people out and about when I'm trying to get things done.

People like Djokovic won't be clogging up tournaments either.

He's in danger of becoming irrelevant as I don't think he'll be able to play any slams this year at this rate.
Still, he'll have Monte Carlo and Belgrade.
