Recommened Stings for me?...a String rookie.

I actually agree with this option. It is worth a try on your next string job, and I also believe that your multi trial should be interesting. If you break your multi quickly (unless off a shank or something), then you will have an idea about how long your gut would last (except the guts plays...

Overwhelmed.... trying to buy a new racquet- help please!

I think you've found your racquet! I would not worry about the string pattern or string durability at this point. If the Premier one is comfortable, and you are happy with it, go for it! And, welcome back to tennis!

    Player #11, sad update

I have a feeling that the ghost of #11 is going to haunt your team this season, in the form of "dead" matches forfeited due to lack of players.

Donnay helpping arm & elbow problems

Well, to be honest, I'm still trying to figure it out. It is about 1/2 oz. lighter than my previous racket, and it does indeed swing through rather quickly. I've been working to try to adjust on groundies with it. Feel is very good, almost a plush feel albeit in a rather light way...

Donnay helpping arm & elbow problems

I've been hitting for a week or two with the Dual XP Black, and it is a pretty interesting feeling racquet. It does have a sort of plush, soft feel to it, and I find it very arm friendly, even with poly hybrid. I've not hit with any of the others in the line though.

    BDE Performance Gut = ?

Thanks again guys. I'll try a few others out, and will include the Prince - and I'll try checking around for old packaging.

The most arm friendly racquets you have used?

I like this answer, as it fits with my experience - except I used the PK 5G rather than the Ki5.

Thanks McLovin. I'll give the Pacific Classic a try.

    New Dunlop line???

Thanks for the info., guys. I will look forward to testing these new models, as I am very curious about the head shape change. The oval never bothered me one bit though, so I'm not sure about the change. I guess I'm a "classic"!!

Wilson Steam string set up for a 13 yr old

From a female perspective: I'm about the same rating level as your daughter, but possibly hit a bit more spin than her. She probably hits through the ball better than me. I would try these set ups as an experiment after tournaments. Gut main, ploy cross. Pick your poison. She may very well...

    BDE Performance Gut = ?

At one point, when I was more active on these forums, I had done a gut comparison. BDE Perf. gut won out, and I hoarded them as they became more difficult to find. Are they under a different name now? Is there any way to find more? Do any former users have a new gut that matches the...

When keepin' it real goes wrong (in 6.0 mixed)

For a 2.5 female, it is pretty much "social". But you go ahead an be a REAL man. I bet you can serve her off the court and feel good in doing so.

    When are ratings updated?

Usually mid November, unless you are playing an "early" area like Atlanta.

    What would you do?

Shame on them once for falling for the drop serve, but should not be a shaming next time. A 4.0/4.5 would deal with that in spades, and say thank you along the way. No way they lose.

When keepin' it real goes wrong (in 6.0 mixed)

Well, I think that you pretty much have your responses to this question. Husband is an idiot, and should really keep out of it. At that level, yes, I think the guy sometimes should hold off on the serve to the much weaker woman in order to keep it competitive. Hit a spin serve, it is as good...

    Stringing natural gut 1st time

Excellent response from jim3! Pretty much sums it up. It's kind of ironic that once you get your gut strung up, it is so very durable, and will last and give you it's all until the very last thread breaks. But yet you have to be careful stringing it up. Poly seems to be so very easy to...

Why nike & babolat shoes arent good

syke, I agree with breakpoint in that those shoes look GREAT for 4 months wear. Personally, I think Adidas has better durability, but some think they feel like tanks on the feet. I somewhat agree with that, but they do last. The old Nike Breath Free shoes were some of my favorite ever, but...

    Too much topspin

If you've never taken a lesson, then try very hard to find someone to work briefly with you - keeping the cost as low as possible. I imagine you will find it is a lack of understanding of the stroke production. Topspin isn't really about "wrist", although it will certainly feel that way...

    16x19 racquet patterns

Donnay x-p dual core black. 16x19 pattern. I don't think it is the racquet or pattern. I have a feeling it is a very basic stringing error. I may need to just watch some vids for basic stringing technique. I learned on the 16x20 Wilson, then the 16x18 Dunlop was still basically the same...

    16x19 racquet patterns

Irvin, you are a patient saint. hole 7, both sides, on the top for two strings. 3,4,5,6 for three strings, both sides, on the throat. hole 7 for two strings. Wow, it is worse than I thought.

    16x19 racquet patterns

Irvin, I wish it were that simple. I am doing a two piece, and I am sure it is a very simple thing, but I am not getting it. Maybe the question is "how do you start your crosses"...over then under and switch each string? Unfortunately, this is the most basic of questions...and possibly a very...

    16x19 racquet patterns

Sorry for the world's most stupid question here, but here I go. I've been stringing my own racquets for about 2 -3 years, but they have always been 16x20 or 16x18 (even numbers) racquets. And I am certainly not the most advanced stringer out there, but I usually get the job done OK. I only...

    Donnay X-P Dual Black 102

Thanks El Diablo. I just saw the other Donnay thread that includes some info. on this racquet. If I continue to trial this racquet, it may very well get a bit of additional weight, as it does swing through the air pretty fast. But it does not feel unsolid at all.

Reasons for having 3 racquets instead of 2

Having only two would worry me beyond belief. In my head, the voices would always be whispering: "What if I break two sets of strings today?" "What if I am too lazy to string one of my last remaining two strung racquets tonight?" ...those types of things. Most sane people probably...
