Is it just the 2016 pj again or did they make any changes to the frame itself? Hoping someone with Japanese fluency can translate some of the video for us.

There is no such thing as upcoming 2019 RF97a. The flagless reissue has been around in South East Asia since November 2018.

Personally I love the matte finish of the 2014 version. I don't hit with it a ton, but the frame looks pretty resilient and the paint has held up remarkably well so far. I wish they had retained the matte with gloss. The tuxedo version is not bad but once the rubberized paint wears off will look horrible. Not so much with the all black.

No, the red/black came first in 2014. I've never hit with the all black so can't comment on that one but I've with the black/white and can confirm its more muted with the same string setup though not drastically different. The unstrung RA is 71 for both, strung RA 68. There is a thread about the hoop being a little more flexible in the tuxedo version with a video clip.
But it is subjective depending on your string & tension. I use volkl cyclone tour red 17/18 @53/54 lbs in both.

So, the 2019 model is the one without the Swiss national flag in the throat? I've been trying to find this out in a couple of other threads with no real answer. I'm only asking as I have one without the flag in the throat but have seen images of others with the flag, so was unsure.

Not sure if anyone has suspect paint work on their 2016 Black RF97A. I have played three sessions with mine, and the gloss paint at 3 and 9 o’clock is starting to pickup marks only from framing the ball.

That's a pro staff 97 v11 paint job, doubt they will launch the the rf97 in that color now
