Know it's been churned thru a few times, but ps97 is quite often the downfall of rec players, does this new one continue the ever so slight trend (correct me if wrong) towards amateur friendliness?
What do you mean when you say "the PS97 is quite often the downfall of rec players"?

The paint job in Petrovic hand is the new one. That’s her same racquet they have painted at least 4 different ways. The other pic is the 16’, 17’ frame. Looking for a pic of the string pattern in the new frame. If I sign a contract with Wilson this year that will be with that racquet if the string pattern has changed. If not, RF97 all the way.

Head is what players are talking about around the clubs and with high level juniors and collegiate players. Wilson keeping secrets and releasing late will certainly effect racquet sales with players frames. 3 of the guys on my team have already gone Head in the last month or so. The rest are Yonex.

I played before but I didn't liked it just because of lacking control ... so it seems with this update this problem will be solved ? Come on.... I just bought 2 Yonex HD :))

I agree, Wilson will lose out on sales, and the only buyers will be those who are eagerly waiting for the new range to hit the market. The season in the UK is almost over, and releasing them before summer would have been the the best time, but COVID surely hasn’t helped.

Problem I believe was putting all their eggs in one basket. The RF97 is excellent but the PS97 has been so off over the last several years that people even have a hard time dialing it in with lead, silicone, etc. The PS97 needed an upgrade years ago.

makes sense since head and yonex are making the nicest playing sticks out now. Head did an amazing job with the gravity pro and I hate anything bigger than a 98. Love the Vcores too. Green and red ones.

I don’t but it is pictured and featured in the Sept/Oct Tennis magazine. It will have limited distribution. Mostly larger retail on line and brick and mortar.
Why the limited distribution? Trying to jack the prices by increasing demand? Wilson is a strange one at the moment.

@Geoff
do You also have access to the new Serena racquet? Interested what they've changed.
I actually string for 3 different Wilson reps and to the best of my knowledge they will not have that as a sales sample due to the distribution channels where it will be sold not being part of their territory.

Besides a slightly tighter string pattern in the upper hoop. Does anyone know if the frames technology will differ from the last version? I heard that this frame is supposed to feel a little nicer on ball contact. But if the RA is 66, which is the same as the last two iterations, where is the difference in feel coming from?

@Geoff that would be great, I'd very curious to know if they did any changes to the swinghweight and stiffness... many thanks !!

Blade SW102 Autograph
28”
102 square inch
10.8 unstrung
22mm beam

Any more details?? I'd very curious to know if there's any changes to swinghweight and stiffness... many thanks !! it would also be amazing if they'd use 27.5 instead of 28 length..

Just got confirmation from Wilson through Instagram that they are planning a September release.

With the SW release in early September, any thoughts on when we can see this one released?

My local shop has the new PS in for demo but they are all checked out. They showed me an unstrung 97l and it looks really similar to the last rf97. All black with very subtle red and yellow stripes at the inside edge of the top. Not sure about specs.

Just hit w the new ps 97. The regular (not the rf). Haven’t hit a ps since I played w one of the very old 95s maybe 20 years ago so I can’t make any comparisons to recent iterations. That said, the string bed felt very consistent. And it felt very precise. It felt firm but not at all tinny or metallic like many stiffer rackets. Felt great from all areas of the court and had a very direct feel. Initial impressions are very positive. Only reservation is knowing that it’s stiff. But again, it didn’t feel harsh at all. Just firm.

The throwback stripes might sell me on it. I still hit now and again with a 6.0 95, and if it even vaguely has that aesthetic and isn’t something I’m afraid of breaking then I might not be able to resist.

Do you have any pics of it? And how did you get your hands on one of these already?

I’m not going to share pics. Sorry. It looks good. The entire section of the upper hoop, an area as long as the bumper guard, shows the braided graphite (or at least looks like braided graphite). Very subtle w the old school colors. Great looking stick. But again, I play w a very different stick (old Prince Tour w a 56 ra) so tough for me to provide any real feedback.
