It seems even more unequal than usual this year. IMO, Rublev, Berrettini, Ruud and post-RG Tsitsipas have pretty much zero chance to win the whole thing.
From the rumors I've heard, the surface is exactly the same as it was in Paris. Not too slow but still slower than the O2 in London. It suits Djokovic and Medvedev's game to a T. Certainly not an advantage for big servers / ball-bashers like Berrettini.

Right now for me it is
Djokovic 40%
Medvedev 35%
Zverev 22%
Hurkacz 2%
Tsitsipas 0,4%
Berrettini 0,4%
Rublev 0,1%
Ruud 0,1%

Zverev's only chance to reach the final is if he ends up in Djokovic's group and Djokovic settles for 2 wins and tanks the 3rd match (like he did last year against Medvedev). With 3 wins, he would avoid the #1 of the other group (likely Medvedev) If the final is Zverev/Medvedev, I think the Russian would still be favorite but the match would be different from the recent one in Paris.

Another Djokovic-Medvedev remake is likely. Very unlikely that neither plays the final. I can see 1 upset but not 2. And if the final includes Djokovic or Medvedev AND another player, the latter would not be favorite at all.

(PS: draw was on Tuesday for a long time. Last year it was on Thursday, so I assume it'll be the same this year).

Medvedev doesn’t like slow hard courts. He was complaining about Paris conditions too . Also in the post match press conference ,djokovic said the slow conditions gave time to return his serve unlike us open .

Tsitsipas will be playing with some urgency in the midst of this slump. I'd give him a 7 percent chance.

I agree that a Djokovic-Medvedev final is likely, but I think Med prefers faster HCs. Compare his one AO final to his two much closer USO finals.

Was it last year or the year before that Medvedev won all of his matches (I think he won every set too?) at the ATP finals? I remember Zverev defeating Djokovic in the finals a few years ago. I think Medvedev has the easier group than Djokovic does. Round robins are so tricky. I am thinking Medvedev will win the tournament. I doubt anyone will win every single set again this year though.

Zverev defeated Djokovic in 2018. Djokovic won the Round Robin match 6-4 6-1 and 4 days later Zverev won the final 6-4 6-3. Funny huh? It isn't rare these things happen in WTF. It happened with Federer and Nalbandian in 2005, Federer and Djokovic in 2015 for exemple. The strangest one is still in the WTA finals. In 2014 Halep beat Serena 6-0 6-2 in the RR match and literally 3 days later Serena beat Halep 6-3 6-0 in final.

Medvedev's 2019 and 2020 seasons were quite strange tbh. In 2019 he played the final of Washington/USO and won Cincinnati/Moscow/Shanghaï but didn't win one match in Paris and London. In London he lost his 3 RR matches against Tsitsipas, Nadal and Zverev. In the Nadal match, he was up 4-0 0-40 in the 3rd set, then 5-1 with match points and Nadal won 7-6 in the end. In 2020 his 2nd part of the season was totally opposite. He came to Paris with very few wins, he even lost to Anderson in Vienna. That's when he won Paris and then won the WTF with 0 defeat. He beat Djokovic and Zverev in straight sets in the Round Robin, then he beat Nadal in SF (was down 3-6 3-5, broke back and won the match) and Thiem in final. He also won ATPCup without losing a single match and his 21 matches streak ended in the Melbourne final.

So the draw is at 18 UK, 3 hours from now. Thanks for the info.

He will most likely have to beat Zverev and Medvedev back to back to win the whole thing. What are the chances of that happening?
Nah, he is beating both if it happens, facing the polish guy might be the worse scenario right now, but he would beat them all anyway.

Maybe you're right, but he's failed at the WTF for several years. In a 1 off match I favor Djokovic but when he has to play multiple young guys back to back, fatigue eventually gets to him and he has nothing left to give, like at the US Open.

In Bercy he looked a lot fresher than USO. At this point we don't really know when he will reach his limit, but if he is to play DC after this then he must know better. Plus, if he is thinking of missing AO because of no vax then this WTF points must look a lot more precious.

Is he genuinely going to miss the AO because of that? It would be pretty ridiculous if he did.

Oh, are these the real groups now? Tough group "Red."

Ruud couldn't take a set off Nole on clay, I'm not convinced he's pulling it off indoors. Rublev has been lukewarm at best in terms of recent form. And Tsitsipas might be carrying an arm injury?

This might get harder if Tsitsipas pulls out and Sinner gets to play as an alternate.

Disappointed that Djokovic got the easier group of the two. Still thinking Medvedev will win though.

Yes, but he gets to play on sunday, and he wont have to play 3 straight days like Novak to win the title.

I don’t think Djokovic cares enough for this tournament to win it, but he might anyway. I voted Medvedev but only for being more hungry at this point.

No redlining Thiem or "Fvck-you-for-wimb-final" Federer this time around, so Novak can successfully vulture it.
