A thread in anticipation of a rumoured v8 Blade release later this year
That would be a such a departure to what a blade is and I'm saying that as someone who plays higher powered frames. There is a demand for these lower powered frames, so Wilson betraying the blade line like that would probably not be great. If you want a powerful 98 that's a Wilson get a Clash IMO. I'm with you in liking more powerful frames though!Hoping for Pure strike power levels...

That's not new. That feature has already been in Wilson's racquets for years. The new feature this year is QC will be 15 grams +/- and balance 8 pts either direction.

Nah last year it was only 5 grams and 4 pts but they are really going to step up their game in 2021
Tennispin said the same thing. Called it a cameo paint job that almost glows green in the sun.I have it on good authority that there’s a very interesting paint job coming. A lot of green which changes in shade depending on the aspect it’s viewed from. Specs to remain largely the same. Announcement in the next few weeks with launch potentially coming forward to August.
I fully disagree mate. If you want power, control, feel, stability, easiness to play go and check Blade 2015 line or previous 2013 the one tsitsipas is playing with. Even CV version was a powerhouse but with average feel. Wilson decided with V7 to reduce stiffness and as a result power is gone by at least 30%…. Feel is great among modern racquets but not close to V5 and V4. I really hope the magic of V5/V4 to return.
I can’t imagine that covid supply chain issues are going to help Wilson’s quality control problems. TW’s matching service will be an absolute must with this first production run.
I was actually thinking about buying a used 2015 Blade for exactly this reason, but can't decide between the 18x20 and 16x19. In the V7, I prefer the 16x19 for the increase spin and bit if extra pop (at least to me), but wish I could have the extra control/precision of the 18x20. Would the 2015 18x20 give me the best of both worlds or if I like the 16x19 in the V7, will that likely be my preference in the 2015 version as well? Obviously, it's a little hard to demo these!
Could also try the "new" V6-no countervail version. Where does it sit between the V5 and V7 in terms of power and feel?
Thanks!
Greg
Was Raonic playing with it last night?Tennispin said the same thing. Called it a cameo paint job that almost glows green in the sun.
-yes, but its just the 2021 "paint job" !!Was Raonic playing with it last night?
Does this mean it will be stiffer? It says Forty-Five at the 12 o'clock position... so it has the same tech as the Pro Staff v13s.
Looks great.
Does this mean it will be stiffer?
$It seems that the Blade line was just recently updated. What is the problem that Wilson needs to update it again so soon? Why are so many pros still using the old model with a current line paint job?
My Clash’s haven’t cracked and I use 16 gauge strings.i heard the Clash frames can crack easily (is this true?), and are the new Blades the same?
My Clash’s haven’t cracked and I use 16 gauge strings.
i meant when it get hit by accident or something, it can crack faster than other sticks. not sure it's true though.
The paint chips really easily .I've had two demo clashes that were broken internally or something of the sort... Ball wouldn't really bounce off the string bed despite the tension and would have intense vibration through the handle. One occurred randomly during play and the other was received that way.
Tell us about it.
I meant regarding the upcoming/unreleased blade 104 but thank you that was a decent vid
Yeahyea, sorry for that. so you mean V8?
