Andreescu could be one of just a handful of players to have won 4 of the major North America titles
2019 Indian Wells
2019 Canadian Open
2019 US Open
2021 Miami Open?

Would then just need Cinci to have all 5.

It's never boring with Bianca that's for sure ! Her record in tight 3 set matches is just incredibly good.

The match was littered with errors, but that was perfectly understandable given that they were both stretching each other wide and off balance, the physical nature of the match and the fact that it started so late.

I don't really mind who wins the final and would be happy either way. And hopefully Sakkari can push on and do well on clay.

The ugly stats don't do the match justice. It wasn't littered with poor play at all. Lots of really excellent play from both players.

Sakkari played really well, she didn't even really wilt in the big moments, it's just that Andreescu is so clutch, so fearless with the stakes high.
The game when Sakkari was serving for the set, she might have been a little tight but Bianca was just so forceful and determined in her in attack, even though she was returning. It's really amazing. It's like she said "That's it, I'm winning this damn game" and did. Unbelievable.

NextGen ATP guys don't have that, that's for sure.

Anyway, a match in which both players really deserved and earned a win. I hope Sakkari keeps playing like this, I like her a lot, she's fun.

The Andreeescu-Sakkari match was a terrible match! Lot of UE by both players! Dull play in the 2nd set. Overall, it was not worth watching and waste of time! WTA has gone down in entertainment value!

Andreescu might be the most clutch player I've ever seen. Unreal player when it matters most.

I don't know if anyone else but Bianca would have won in a row against 4 such in form players: Anisimova, Muguruza, Torbes and Shakkari (the latest two, being great athletes, all fiber, who could run all day).

The way an exhausted Bianca won from being down 5-6 in the third, htting world class winners after winners was unstopable (reminded me of ....Serena) :)

She is genuinly looking forward to playing Barty in the final! Were I to be Barty, I would be shaking in my boots.. :}

Sakkari basically played the exact same steady game all match long, and games were decided more on Bianca's level at the moment.

Sakkari was mostly just trying to hit hard and deep right back at her for most of the match (especially in crucial points) and it was up to Bianca to step around in time to redirect it for a winner, or have lead slow and short-arm it back into the net. Those "I'm winning this damn game" moments you said were when she got some spring in her step back and move around the ball to blast it.

It's hard to blame Maria because it was working. For most of the match she was the better player, you can't really predict when Andreescu is just going to suddenly turn it on and stop hitting errors.

Nope. Medvedev and Tsitsipas have ZERO fight in them. They just pack it in

32-0 in North America for matches that she didn't retire in (1) since 2019. That's amazing.

I just saw the highlights of the Sakkari-Pegula R4 match for the first time. That final set in-particular really was a thriller, with Sakkari painting the lines on big points, to save those match points etc.

It sounds stupid and cliche, but it's absolutely true. The ability to play brave in most stressful points, but also not in a hopeless ball bashing way. It's a fine line that only the 1% of the 1% seem to possess, and she's one of them.

Whatever "it" is, Andreescu has it.

Who's Andreescu?

By the way, when did Belinda Bencic put on so much weight?

Barty takes the first 6-3, Bianca still looking flat. The shot before Barty's winner landed what, a few feet behind the service line? Very inumpressive play by Bianca so far.

Really hope Bianca didn’t sustain an serious injury. I would hate to see her out again. I blame those new Nike she’s wearing.

Great 2 weeks by Barty who was down match point in her first match but goes on to defend her Miami title.

Also a great 2 weeks for Andreescu who I hope isn’t too injured. Showed great form and why she’s one of the best on tour.

I just hope all this concentrated luck at a specific point in Barty's career doesn't give way, later, to a concentrated period of terrible misfortune, to balance it out.
These things tend to even out, so I hope it's over a long period of time.

Gonna leave this here: https://www.tennis.com/pro-game/202...vitolina-gems-life-instagram-interview/88171/

Admittedly, I don't follow relationships status and all that jazz that closely, but I was under the impression those two had broken up recently... Crazy kids!

Well, according to popular TTW wisdom, Svitolina is one step further into Finland, that mythical land. Good to knew ya, Elina!

Oh man, I cannot resist sharing this:
That's one dude who has really defined priorities. Who cares about Monfils and Svitolina tying the knot? What's really important is knowing if Federer is gonna play during the clay swing. I'm dying over here. :-D
