One thing that surprises me is that Mugu with her giant wingspan and solid strokes doesn't seem to be able to get easy forehand winners off slow balls that are sitting up. In many cases it looked like she should have been able to swat away some sitters for a clean winner, but it never worked.

Her forehand is always loopy, don't know why. It's flatter than her Sumyk days tho.

I only saw her match against potapova but she looked very good.

I am really surprised she got by Teichmann. She is solid, reliable but no major weapons. I watched them both playing quarters and Teichmann was very solid with excellent groundstrokes while Krejcikova looked average in comparison.

Muguruza broken twice already. Maybe she’s not ready for another major after all.

Missed the entire match, but seems like Mugu scraped out the win, beating Krejcikova 7-6(6) 6-3.

Never seen so many errant ball tosses in a pro match before. Then there was the interminable break between sets. Glad Mugu pulled it out. My eyeballs are bleeding though.
