One of the most unlikely Grand Slam final matchups in history, with 18-year old #150 ranked qualifier Emma Raducanu playing just turned 19 year old #73 ranked Leylah Annie Fernandez.

Both are Canadians, but Raducanu represents Great Britain having moved there as a two year old.

Who's going to win this historic final?

I think the script was to make history with having a qualifier win the trophy and a veteran winning the calendar slam; contrasts each other.

Joking aside, I would rather see Emma winning instead of the Leylah girl.

Brilliant replies by Emma in the on court interview. So mature!
Answering the questions on HER terms. :)

This will be a real DREAM final for me!

I honestly can't say who I will be rooting for at this time.
I'm torn between the two.

I will say this however. I started watching Radu in her 3rd
round match against Tormo and took great delight to see her
destroy the grunter 6-0, 6-1.

That was the first time I ever saw her play.
I don't often dish out hyperbole to players.
In fact I haven't since I first saw Sampras and Federer play.

This gal is the REAL DEAL!
She is destined to go far.
No this isn't a flash in the pan fluke.
Mark my words.

I have no idea.

It's been years since I was interested in a WTA final.

This year I am. Not in the slightest because both are pretty, but because I am very very impressed with their game and attitude.

Wishing for a incredible final this Saturday.

I think this is the first time I've been intrerested in the women's side of the draw. haha

Saw Raducanu in person vs. Rogers. Wasn't even a competitive match. Just pure destruction. She might have played even better in the 1st set vs. Sakkari as well as the QF vs. Bencic too. Raducanu passed every test with flying colors. Her mentality is unshakable so far.

Fernandez meanwhile has the craziest single-Slam resume of wins in at least the last decade. Osaka, Kerber, Svitolina, Sabalenka consecutively (and faced a must-win TB to stave off elimination in each)

What a story, what a journey, and what talent both of these two young ladies possess. Hoping for an epic battle on Saturday. Not even sure if I know who to cheer for, they're both extremely likable.

Fernandez is the more logical choice, but some stuff she does on court irritate me. I’m rooting for Raducanu.

They used to say only two things are certain in life:
Death and Taxes.

Well now we can add a third. :)
Both of these young women will become multi-millionaires after Saturday.
Prize money plus endorsements will make this a certainty.

Yep, so marketable. Young, pretty, successful (at least for now). The fight for endorsement contracts starts ...... NOW....

I think, on the broadcast today, I heard Leylah was 200-1 and Emma 100-1 on futures bets pre-tournament. I have a feeling either winner might be the longest odds of all time.

They've played once previously, at the 2018 Wimbledon Juniors where Emma won in straight sets. They have known each other since playing under-12 tournaments together.

Emma’s ROS is the best I’ve seen in a while. She sees the ball very early and has great anticipation. Leylah will have to hold serve to have a chance.

Honestly I'll be do happy no matter who wins, I've been watching these two since the 3R/R16 and am really impressed with their games. This USO is the first time I'll be more pumped for a women's slam final than the men's final and I'm very excited about Saturday night. That being said, I do think Emma will come out on top although I wouldn't mind being wrong or right about that

They've both come a long way in a short time. When Raducanu packed to go and play Wimbledon her father asked her why she was taking so much stuff when she was going to get knocked out in the 1st round.

Very difficult to pick. On form it's Emma, based on the quality of opponents beaten it's Leylah. Not sure who the crowd will be behind, assume it'll be something 60-40 in Leylah's favour because she's Canadian.

Overall I picked Leylah in 3 because she's had a tougher draw and is battle ready.

I actually like both of them both are great for the game with lovely personalities.

Tennis wise I can’t call it! Raducanu hasn’t dropped a set and has eased through but Fernandez matches have been tougher but also a harder draw. Tennis will be the winner either way.

i am probably going to cheer on Fernandez as a fellow lefty and I love her game and her story but whoever wins it will be a good result for the game.

I'm going with Rad. I think she's playing better this fortnight than the ppl Fernandez has only just beaten, if that makes sense.

The leftie thing could make a difference though.

I think it's either Raducanu in 2 or Fernandez in 3 if Raducanu lets her in the match, but she the way she has been playing she probably won't. Fernandez eliminated a higher-ranked opposition, but a player can only beat whoever is in front of them, so that alone is not decisive. Raducanu seems to know how to hold and how to break. I wonder if she has played lefties before. Looking forward to the match.

Yes, will not be easy for Emma (18 yo) against a lefty in a slam final.
I expect an electrizing match, I slightly favor Raducanu, but Fernandez showed fighting spirit and a ton of talent.
Both girls played unbelievably like had nothing to lose, but now they might just feel the extra pressure....

I don't know about pressure, they have both already overachieved, particularly Raducanu, who had been ranked somewhere in the 4th hundred before the Wimbledon and hadn't competed for a year because of pandemic. There is a possibility she might be a little overwhelmed by the occasion, but it's not a real pressure. In subsequent tournaments however there might be as all eyes would be on her. She is supposed to become world number 32 on Monday after her semi-final win, so direct entry to Slams next year and probably seeded too. Fernandez will get even higher and this is irrespective of what happens in the final.

this is like Rafa vs Djoker:
1 is left handed and 1 year older like rafa the other one plays smart tennis like djoker

Nobody predicted this final before the tournament started.

The positive thing is they are both young and inexperienced. So, they will be on equal footing leaving the gate.

Also, the crowd shouldn't play a role as both have been supported throughout the tournament.

Going with LF in 3.
