2023 WTF - which groups do you want?

2023 World Tour Finals kicks off in just over 1 week on Sunday 12th November.
  • Which groups do you want?
  • Which matches do you want to watch during this year's WTF?
  • Which matches do you have no interest in watching during this year's WTF
I have provided my thoughts on these 3 dot points below - the floor is yours to share your thoughts if you wish :)

The 8 qualified players are:
1. Djokovic
2, Alcaraz
3. Medvedev
4. Sinner
5. Rublev
6. Tsitsipas
7. Zverev
8. Rune

1 and 2 will be placed in opposite groups A and B.
For the remaining 3 pairings (3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8) - each pairing (2 number chips) will be placed into a cup or hat and randomly drawn out, the first number drawn will be placed into Group A and the other will be placed into Group B.

The groups will look something like this:
Group A
1. Djokovic
2. Medvedev or Sinner
3. Rublev or Tsitsipas
4. Zverev or Rune

Group B
1. Alcaraz
2. Medvedev or Sinner
3. Rublev or Tsitsipas
4. Zverev or Rune

My group choices
I am personally hoping that the two groups will be:
Group A - Djokovic, Sinner, Rublev, Zverev
Group B - Alcaraz, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Rune

Matches I am keen to watch
  • Djokovic vs Sinner (Given Sinner's recent good form winning titles in Beijing and Vienna beating his #2 bogeyman Medvedev, can he finally step up and get his first win against his #1 bogeyman Djokovic in front of the Italian crowd?)
  • Alcaraz vs Sinner (Have really enjoyed watching all of their 7 previous matches, good contrast in styles, 4-3 H2H in Sinner's favour, surprisingly they have only played each other once indoors before with Alcaraz winning that in 2 tight sets - 2021 Paris Masters 3R)
  • Djokovic vs Alcaraz (Can't believe they have only played each other 4 times, I always love watching these two battle each other, hopefully they play each other either in this year's semis or final)
  • Alcaraz vs Rune (These two are only 6 days apart in age and have only played each other on 3 previous occasions, H2H is 2-1 to Alcaraz, H2H is 1-1 in indoor matches)
  • Djokovic vs Zverev (Zverev has always played well against Djokovic with a 2-2 H2H in their previous 4 WTF matches)
  • Alcaraz vs Tsitsipas (Tsitsipas is 0-5 H2H against Alcaraz, this may well be his best chance to finally get his first win against Alcaraz on his worst surface, can he do it if he gets the chance?)
Matches I have no interest in watching (if they occur)
  • Medvedev vs Rublev
  • Djokovic vs Rublev
  • Medvedev vs Zverev

The Sinner

Semi-Pro
I’d like to see Sinner in the same RR group as Djoko. Then one other ’tough‘ opponent, like Tsitsipas or Zverev, and punching bag Rublev to round up the group.
