Here is the fact sheet

The venue is not available as of yet, as I'm sure each age group will be held at a different location. I think it will all take place in florida.

The week before this will be the senior team cups. I got an invite to play for the USA on one of the team cups, but wont know until late January who will be on the team.

Anyone going to play in the singles or doubles?

I have an invite (45s singles) but it will lapse after the Nationals in January.

and I'm not playing in them because they clash with a family event on the other side of the country..

grrrr

My invitation is probably in the mail. With all the Christmas mail, mine's probably delayed somewhere along the line. I should start my list of items I need to bring along....

I think the surface is an advantage to the USA players as green clay ( Har-Tru) is only used in the USA I think

The UK Vets National Clay Court Champs are held on American Clay, but they're not that common in the UK. There are two clubs within 50 miles of me that have them. Synthetic red clay courts are flavour of the month here.

NLBwell - my goal is to get picked for the GBR team in 2015 (Turkey) or 2016, if that happens I'll play the individuals also. No plans to go in 2014 unless my tenants move out, although I haven't completely discounted it. How about you?

Ahhh I see. So the synthetic red clay is green clay died red? If so ive seen that in the US in NY.

Its great you're still playing!! Keep it up baby

No, my two comments were completely unrelated - not sure why I wrote it that way! The American clay here is the same as in the states.

Synthetic clay is completely artificial and not to be confused with American or red.

I'm still hobbling around the court!

I'm not nearly good enough yet. For the past few months my knee, achilles, elbow, and shoulder have all cooperated and I'm playing tennis consistently now for the first time this century. I've moved up from an NTRP 4.0 level to borderline 4.5/5.0 in just a couple of months. It seems like I'll be working a lot more starting in January, so I'll probably start dropping in level again before I get really good. It does feel really, really good to not be limping around the court too much and to be able to move my arm semi-freely. I'd almost forgotten what it's like to play real tennis.

I keep telling the youngsters I coach to appreciate what they've got now, as it only goes downhill from your 20s. In one ear and out the other though, as it was with me.

Good to hear you're moving better and enjoying things.
