A Djokovic trivia :

Novak Djokovic has never won the AO when he has stepped in simultaneously as the Defending champion and 2nd seed.

The previous two times when he stepped into AO as mentioned:

2014: Loss against Wawrinka in 5 in the QFs

2017: Loss against Istomin in 5 in the 2nd round

Wonder if this will continue or will Djokovic break this..?

He has no open personal issue, he is not injured or ill and he looks pretty fit, if a bit slower due to age, but with some adjustments to his game to compensate.

It will take consequtive matches taken to 3 o 4 hours with 2 in season's peak form players starting at his eg 4th match to take him out at his pet major - Wawrinka, Tsitsipas, Medvedev or Wawrinka, Thiem, Federer.

Wait for the draw. It might help with making it less boring. But, while playing with it might seem fun for some as we wait for it to start, statistics won't predict the outcome.

When they finish careers it would make any remote sense, until they are not active some stats are nothing just numbers waiting to be debunked.

Now with the draw, you think he is ready to defend his crown

His best is not as good as before, so he will not have it as easy as before/last year. His relative weakness will surely increase motivation of opponents.

However, there are months and a lot to happen before that, not only AO, but if we are looking for a proper Slam fun I expect it to be at RG with roof and llghts.

That last sentence is so true. The roof factor could put rafas french open reign in jeopardy. It will certainly change dynamics a bit.

For example last years hurricane conditions, if it happens again will be played indoors or if it rains a lot. Will have a huge affect. Certainly good for Novak’s chances.
