Adding lead tapes to an Aeroprodrive GT

I was thinking of adding lead tape to my aeropro, it just feels a bit too light.
What I'm searching for is a bit more of a solid feeling and a bit more control, as of now it seems a bit too powerful.
What I'm searching for is a bit more of prestige feeling, of course it's another racket but I'm searching for a bit of that solid feeling.
So, where should I add lead tapes?At 3 and 9 o'clock?

Lead tape's gonna make it more powerful, but maybe you could end up making It easier to control so the extra power was a non-issue.

For the extra stability, solidness and control, you'd probably want lead at the 3 and 9 and then some on the handle to counterbalance and make the frame more HL. I like the frame a lot if you get it more HL than stock.

Sell your APD and get a Prestige.

^ That's definitely one option.

OP, you can also look at the Pro Supex Dynamic Energy, which is a heavier and slightly more control oriented APD clone.

If you do decide to sell your APD, let us know.

Yea I really think your looking at having your cake and eating it too. The APD is Never going to give you that Prestige feel, no matter what set up you go with. Almost as if asking Big Bubba to play like a 6.0 85.

You can add weight to the hoop at 3-9 to help with stability and counter with weight in handle. You could also look into adding a bit of silicone to the handle to help with the feel of the frame.

Three letters... PST... case closed.:)

The PST is a great racquet and has roughly the same power potential as the APD, but yields more control. Some think it is too heavy but it actually feels pretty light to me. It is also much less stiff and much more comfortable to play with. I pull mine out when I need a lot of power and against flat hitters who can really pound the ball.

You can also think about modifying the APD with a good heavy leather grip and putting 6 or so grams of lead inside the throat area at or just below the balance point. I don't think putting lead on the hoop is going to give any more control and it will give the racquet a swingweight that few can manage with decent control. If anything, adding weight to the bottom half of the racquet will bring it more into the "player's racquet" specs and maybe even make it seem more maneuverable.

Try 6g total at 3/9 and 12g inside the buttcap. That makes the racquet virtually perfect. Ends up right around 12 oz. and 7-8 pts. HL

Disregard the other poor advice here about getting a different frame :)

The APD has more of a 'You get what you put in' in terms of energy/pop ratio, but the PST has a really really heavy rally ball that requires very little energy but then is hard to take it to the next level and rip a winner.

Have you guys tried silicone inside the handle? If not, you must! It's sooo good with pure drive and apd.

I put 8oz of lead tape under my apd bumper, as close to the bumper's ends as possible for cosmetic reason, and 4 grs of silicones in the handle. OMG!! it's so smooth. The racket plows through any kind of shot with ease and I still feel and hear enough impact and sound to control my shot.

Also, I use co-poly Proline II 17g at 50#. It's not dampen and mute nor running like any synth gut or texture string.

I knew I shouldn't have written that...
I'm not searching for a new racket, I like my apd and what I said was that I just need a bit more of that prestige feeling. I don't want to change my racket completely, just have a bit more prestige lol
Thanks bud for the infos, the other day I had only a 3 gr lead tape so I divided it and put 1.5 at 3 and 9, felt better. I'm gonna add more but what if i put like 4-6 gr at 3-9 and put like 4-6 in the V zone?i mean right over the grip.
