Adding weight to a Gravity MP?

Normally play with a Speed MP with Volkl V-Feel 16g at 57 lbs.
Trying out a Gravity MP strung with Head Velocity 17g at 57lbs.

Loved the way the Gravity swung through the air!
Touch, spin, and power off the string bed was good and the sweet spot was HUGE!
However, just had trouble keeping the ball deep and had quite a few hits that felt very unstable.

I have now played matches with all the Gravity frames (except the Lite) since they came out.
Loved the Pro, but couldn't keep it going due to the weight over long matches.
Loved the Tour, but had trouble with the tight string pattern in generating spin off the forehand, slice bh was great.
LOVED the S, but lack of weight made it difficult against heavy hitters.
Now, the MP seemed like it might be the best compromise, but feel like it might need more weight still.

Anyone here add weight to the Gravity MP and have a good result?
I'm wondering if it will make the racquet too head heavy or difficult to swing by adding weight to 3 & 9 or 10 & 2 on the head.

Thanks for your thoughts.

Watching/or might experiment myself. I also normally play with a Speed MP and but also have a Gravity MP.
If for whatever reason don’t want to play around with lead, you could also try using Velocity in 16g. It would add some weight all around the hoop.

Yes, I added weight to the gravity mp when I had it. It was a big improvement for me.

How much and where?
I added some head tape to the bumper guard which helped, but still maybe a bit more.
Thinking of maybe adding another layer of head tape and see how that works.

Counterbalance in the handle whatever you put in the hoop because it sounds like you enjoy the MP already, so not chg the balance.

To get ball deeper try weight at 3 and 9, adds stability and plow (counterbalance).

Quite a few of us Speed-fugees these days...

The G MP was not for me but loved it RoS.

I tail weighted to make it more HL and added a bit of lead at 4 and 8 to add some stability.

Just get the Boom MP... issue solved

I tried the Boom Pro for a few groundies the other day.
Huge sweet spot and felt very powerful.
It was strung with a full poly.
Reminded me of the Head Pyramid Tour from back in the day.

I'm looking to possibly move from the Speed MP to the Gravity MP for the more forgiving feel.
I'd rather not add leather if possible, although I like the feel of leather defined bevels and keep it a cushioned grip.

Try 2g of lead tape at 12o’clock. Helped me reduce the flutter vs heavier balls by increasing the swing weight a bit. You could counterbalance with 2g under the butt cap, but I didn’t find that made much difference in the feel. If you’re willing to experiment, I suggest trying putting different amounts of blue tack at various places on the hoop. It’s easy to remove but will stay put while you hit. Once you’ve found a setup you like, then replace the blue tack with the same weight of lead tape at the same place.

I leather gripped mine and had a couple of grams at 12. I like hitting with it, but I never find that my shots do as much damage as they do with Gravity Pro (spin a bit more and less depth?).

One of my hitting partners has a completely unmodified MP though and absolutely crushes the ball with it (though is a bit of an UE machine) so technique is probably just as much of a factor.

I have extra lead at 3 & 9 to up the mass/SW and countered a little bit in the handle to keep 6 pts headlight. It's now a total weapon. The feel coupled with the 16x20 pattern is awesome. One of my faves. The only reason I dont use it more is because I hit in the lower part of the string bed a fair bit and the shape of the head tends to reward the reverse. If they made this layup in a Prestige MP shape it would be my daily.

Imagine thinking your shots land short because of the racquet

OP, get some lessons with your local pro. Any racquet will do too.

I would give it a try at 10 & 2 and see how it feels. an alternate idea would be to use the Gravity Tour and adjust strings/tensions for spin. 57lbs is pretty high for HEAD velocity (assuming that is what you used in the Tour)- you can lower it, decrease cross tension, or do an alternate string choice (i.e. full bed poly at a lower tension, hybrid, etc).

I added 2grams split at 2&10 with signum pro xperience 16g(I think these strings are heavy) strung at 49/48lbs and now love my gravity. Static weight is now 324grams and i can really feel the flex and increase in plow and stability

planning to bring this up to at least 305g unstrung for myself. got 10g to mess around with, depending on QC.

lee hyung taik (former pro) weighted his up to 353g strung static. i believe he uses a gut/poly hybrid.
it's in korean, but it's pretty straight forward. he adds a leather grip and a bunch of lead.

Choosing one that is speced a bit higher is a good idea.

Mine was 297 unstrung... strung (hyper G soft 120) with an overgrip and dampener, SW is 323 which is perfect to me..

I will try adding 3gr of tungsten putty in the handle and 3gr at 9 and 3 just to be sure I don't miss anything great but so fat I think the MP is perfect that way..

If you are unlucky and pick one that is slightly lighter (293gr) I can understand the stability comments though...

to compare my vc98 was 305g unstrung, but I added (4g in head, 2g in butt) to get it to 323sw.
how does it feel at net?

came in at 290g unstrung. all four i checked were underspec. all 4 had different swing and static weights. head QC is garbage. (wilson might be worse)

inspired by the above video, but much less static weight... added about 10g in weight throughout the racket.
i think the blue and gold strings looks great. (vs touch, 4g soft)
now 324g. planning to get the SW soon, and some sets in as well.
