Adidas Barricade 8.0

I'm not sure if this is new news, though I did a search and didn't find any threads, but here goes...

There is a picture of the new Adidas Barricade 8.0 and Stella McCartney Barricade in the June 2013 issue of RSI (Racquet Sport Industry).

I'm not sure how to post a picture (without a link) directly on this thread or I would. Perhaps a fellow RSI member could help me out.

The 8.0 features a "power band" in the heel for stability. It kinda reminds me of the Babolat shoes with the heel strap. The 8.0 also appears to incorporate a lot of mesh, especially in the toe box, though it could just be a mesh covering.

There's going to be a black version with silver stripes and white along the base and heal with red band at rear and red accent on claw and nameplate on tongue. Very attractive.

If the silver was black they'd sound great and evoke the B5 look. The White/Blue/Silver we've seen in live pics are nice.

As for the weight, I wouldn't all get too excited yet. 15.5 is for 9.5. If that's a US size then the 10.5 will weigh almost the same as the B7 at 16.5. Even if it's a Euro size, there's still a 1/2 size discrepancy.

Main thing they need to be careful with is reducing durability. The B7s stand alone, so I'm hoping they keep the same tread, but pictures of the sole so far appear inconclusive.

Seems Murray's wearing the 8s, the shoe's last is the same as the 7s so not too big of a transition.

I've not worn any Barricade's since the V's. They are just too unattractive. Currently wearing the II's, too bad that TW stopped selling them. Probably gone forever now.

Next they'll put a big velcro band over the top like the Propulse. I have had zero problems in the B7s with ankle/heel slippage, so not sure why the band in the back. Aesthetically, in my opinion, it looks silly. I also get nervous when I see tons of mesh. I'll stick with the B7s as they go on sale. Got some brand new B5s off the bay.

Looks like they took some notes from the Nike Tour Vapor 9. I will have to give these a try, always liked adidas but the last few versions of the barricade haven't been great, and I do like the nikes...

^ Ah, that's interesting. I was wondering if the mesh version was only for Andy/pros and if the retail version used a different material. It'll be interesting to see how durable this Kevlar-mesh will be.

Why is his angle guard full of clay when he's playing on grass?

Notice the shoes have no clay on them at all?

I suppose it reasonable to assume that clay on the ankle braces came from a clay court. The player (Murray?) simply hasn't had a chance to wash the ankle braces.

Or maybe he just uses the braces for a while and throws them away rather than wash them.

Murray needs an angle guard sponsor then.
And lol at Murray's creepy smile in that video.

Have just seen close up pics of the blk/white colourway on another place in UK.

A little surprised as someone else has mentioned of the tread pattern which is more suited to clay. As launch will be in Jun/Jul when clay court season will be over.

I dig the look of the 8.0. Personally, I felt the 7.0 to be very stiff and plasticky...ew. I hope the 8.0 is different.

Reminds me of the V looks wise. I'd love to try them out, but I dunno about sizing. Having a slightly wider foot can be a pain sometimes. CC feather 2 best fit for my foot at the moment.

I like the Heel strap idea.
Im hoping they're wider than the 7's.
Im not a fan of the design though. A tad ugly.. Just a tad.

Did the stiffness in the 8's not provide support & stability? I found these 2 characteristics quite crucial in the forefoot.

The 9's, judging from the pics Id seen, uses a synthetic mesh like outer to aid breathability (reminds me of the Asics Resolutions / Solutions), with 1 less hole for lacing.

^^ quoting the beginning of that article: "...the Barricade 7.0 took the Gold in London and the US Open last summer on the feet of Andy Murray, the Australian Open for Djokovic, and not to mention the choice shoe of the number one double duo, the Murray brothers." :-?

Each time I look at the shoe, it starts to grow on me a little more. Wonder if miadidas will let you choose mesh colors? Playing in some brand new 5s that I found on the bay...love that shoe.

Anybody know the possible color schemes? White/blue looks great, black/red is meh. I loved the Wimbledon color scheme in the 7.0s and would snap purchase if something similar is available on the 21st

Agreed re the Wimbledon 7s, on my fourth pair. I think the White w/blue pictured is the Wimbledon 8.0. The 8s have a reverse of the black with red and white, white is the predominant color with a splash of red and a black sole and tongue. They look good but if they tongue were white they'd look great.

The 8.0 will be redesigned in summer 2014, per adidas. Not sure if that is a total redesign or a minor facelift like the 6.0s got.
