After watching Reilly Opelka I fancy him to cause an upset

I think he’s on course to win a few slams in his career. He’s basically John isner but much better. He’s got a very solid game. Mentally he’s impressive. He’s currently number 42nd in the world. This is an early prediction and I’ve heard nobody else mention that they rate him.

Come Reilly prove me right!

Opelka is hilarious.

His serve is technically straight up bad lol. Literally falls over every serve.

Doesn't have a forehand for point construction either. While he can actually grind a tiny bit, he can get himself stuck in longer rallie he loses 90% of the time vs much better baseliners.

If he can win multiple slams, then we can expect at least 50 from Tsetsefly, Kyrgios, and Zverev.

The tallest guys to win slams are Delpo and Cilic, and they only have one each. Tennis won't be a game for giants until they reduce the size of the court and introduce a 5th serve.

How can he have a solid game when his backhand is weak and he has one of the lowest break percentages on tour?

There's never been a #1 player over 6'4 and never a dominant #1 player above 6'3. Opelka will never be a dominant player being 6'11, not even at Wimbledon. Never mind that he's the absolute epitome of servebot with nothing else going on for him.

Opelka will never be a dominant player cause he's technically super average.

I'm very sure if you supersize Nadal, Djoko or Fed to 6'10 they'd be unstoppable.

Compared to the average top 100 pro he's actually technically bad.

I'm kinda done with this ridiculous notion you can't call pro's bad at something cause they're still pro's. What's the point of comparing a pro to a recreational player. That's ridiculous in the first place.

True.

You must feel that Reilly is "the truth", because "you can't handle the truth". I love a player that can serve you off the court...all you small %*@#s with average serving skills, deal with it...diversity is what makes this dull sport interesting.

The rant is extraneous from my point: he's too tall to ever be a dominating player and has average skills on court aside from the serve.

You need to either stop drinking or drink much more.

I've said this before but pretty soon the top ten is going to be Opelka, Zverev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Berretini, Popyrin, Khachanov, Bublik, and a couple clay courters.

Let's be real... Everyone likes having giants in tennis. They are a curiosity.

no question.

and i’ll actually take a temporary seat on op bandwagon here...i like what i see from opelka, his strokes are more compact and repeatable than isners for example, and he’s a better mover for sure, not as heavy a build.

give him some time to tighten up his return game and i’d say sure he’ll be a sometimes contender for bigger titles now and then.

I think he'll get to the 4th and then lose to Medvedev. Solid run, but not good enough to get much further.

Opelka looks like he wouldn't even make stage 12 on a beep test ffs. He ain't doin a thang at majors. Not one thang, BG. Ever.

He caused an upset in R1, but then got upset in R2. So it goes.

I do think he'll have a career like Isner or Karlovic though, so I think he's still going to get better than he is right now. Just not grand-slam level good.

He already got his upset. I can see him dropping in the next round or two.
