Alternate-Day Fasting!

I been pounding the weight gain this Spring and Summer eating everything I wanted and living ”large”. So Sunday began a new diet to easily remove the weight in a month time I calculated!

It is called Intermittent fasting aka Alternate day fasting.

Fasting day - just drink water only. Nothing else. Excerise - improve flexibility mostly and heavy weights so I do not loose my gains made. Very tough to get it back if you loose muscle strength! Takes a long time!

Non fasting day - one of these meats: boiled chicken 6 ozs., Ribeye steak 8 oz, boil fish 10 oz. and veggies- one of these veggies - broccoli, green beams, asparagus, spinach, 2 cups of coffee, 12 oz. of whole milk. 5 oz. chips. About 1,500 calories. One meal only around 4-5 p.m. Continue to drinking water all day! No exercise!

I watch Naked and Afraid when I get weak and want food at the beginning! Works for me! After the 1st hunger pains, it goes away and body adjust. No desire for food afterwards.

I feel lighter already but did not measure my weight before starting my diet!

I may skip eating for two days and see what happens!

Harry, it works but when you get off it the usual binging happens and the weight comes back on. Supposedly it makes you healthier though as the body starts to get rid of useless cells during the fast. You can also do 2 days food, 1 day fast instead of every other day. That works as well. Even fasting for 18 hours is ok like have lunch one day and hold off till bfast the next day.

I fast three to four days a week in a similar manner and it does lead to weight loss. My reason for doing so is different from yours. It does result in weight loss though. I often do two days in a row as it is more effective. There are also techniques to push food out of the GI tract so that fewer calories are absorbed by the large intestine.

I been “dying” to try not eating for two straight days! Thursday and Friday, eat on Saturday 1,500 calories! Hope I can complete it! Might have to do away with exercise these two days to save on stamina, maybe go shopping to kill some time and sit outdoors too. I going to try it starting tonight! Two days without eating! Just like Green Beret training but they are being chased. Naked and Afraid for 4-5 days without eating except insects for protein! I can do this! No eating that is!

I do it more because I have to than to lose weight but losing weight has been a side-effect. I do not know how long I can maintain it.

Broke my fasting when someone came and we has some drinks! Consume a beer and some fresh popcorn. Probably, 1,200 calories already. Yikes!

Doing the second day of fasting, you definitely are much weaker, less stamina, less desire to do physical stuff, less mental attentiveness and I just sit watching tennis and waiting for another 5 hours to go bye! No hunger pain or any desire for food for me in middle of day 2 fasting, however.

I do not know what it would happen if I went 3 days without eating but would very rough, another 24 hours! I probably have no strength at all and may have trouble with moving any distance and be more mentally weak too! 4 days would hell!

Just gotten my large 5 topping pizza delivered to my home to celebrate my 2 day fasting completion! Going to wash it down with some beer! Wow, it is so tasty and I going to finish the entire pizza, around 4,000 calories and probably 600 calories for my 3 cans of beer!

Harry: you have the right idea but your brain still had not let go of the belief that you need to eat every meal. Enjoy the pizza, but simply go without having meal from time to time. Do 8-16 eating pattern.

The key is to let go. More control tend to back fire. But letting go of having to eat is the way to go.

I am no expert, but I agree on the "more control tends to back fire". Looks like Harry is looking for an excuse to binge. That's ok fine if that's what you want to do. If you binge a day and practically don't eat for the rest of the week, you might actually do well in losing the weight. But cheating yourself is not good on any level.

I've been doing 12h fasts for a week now, which is like baby steps. I don't need to lose weight, but a couple of kilos off would be nice, certainly not more than, and it's not really my main goal. It is just that when ever I eat after 10pm, it is some old junk. And they say a bit of fasting is good for you, so I want to experiment what is the best way for me.

This Saturday, we went to a pizzeria. I ordered the kids their food, but none for me. This was not planned, I just thought of on the spot. Then when they had eaten, I ate the slice (1/8 of the regular pizza) that was left over. It tasted good. I felt completely satisfied after eating it. I did not even drink anything in the restaurant (had some water before and after though). Anyway, and interesting experiment, for me, as I felt after it that eating just a little can lead to satiety. Also, it seems that my cravings for sweet has decreased, maybe.

Anyway, the modern American diet (I am not from the US, but this same can be seen everywhere) is about all you can eat junk, added this and reduced that. How to develop a craving for something that is healthy and not heavy on sugar and grease? Maybe one way is to become a food snob. Only the best, in small portions. Not 3 cans of beer every meal, rather a glass of the best possible beer, maybe not even every time. Order a large pizza, but just eat a slice. Eat in the restaurant, don't take out. Go all Naepolitan or Roman, eat a pizza with no toppings on it. Savor it.

This is just my thoughts and ramblings. Everybody has their own way.

I've seen people lose a lot of weight just by decreasing calories. These people, though, tend to be highly accomplished with a ton of self-control and they are good at putting in systems in place to improve things permanently. The top ten percent can do things that the other ninety can't do. We see that in a lot of areas in life and sports.

I have giving this up! Too much for me to continued on this type of diet in the Summertime! Food is everwhere and get togethers are based on restaurants dining! Maybe do it in January/February! LOL o_O :giggle::-D
