At first glance, you would think whoever Federer is playing is ready to be taught a lesson, but I think it will be different with Ginepri, and this is why:
Let's compare the games:
Federer - all-around (no weaknesses)
Ginepri - grinder (serve and volley are weaknesses)
Who has the edge on each shot:
Forehand: Despite this shot being one of Ginepri's weapons, the edge goes to Federer.
Backhand: I'll give this to Ginepri
Speed/Footwork: Ginepri
Serve: Federer
Return of serve: Ginepri
Volley: Federer
Fitness: Ginepri
Match-fit: Ginepri
Mentality: Federer
I'm thinking of an upset and hopefully Ginepri proves me right. Ginepri is just in shape, and match-fit especially. On the other hand, Federer is not. Ginepri already recorded an upset over Roddick, Moya, and Safin and this will be another step up. All players were in the same situation as Federer fitness wise. The grinder in Nadal won in Montreal and I have a feeling here comes another one. I hear some say that other surfaces are trying to copy clay, and I guess your observations are being backed up by facts.
