Andrey rublev :- A dark horse for Wimbledon??

He is The only nextgen guy with a powerful as well as consistent forehand.
The backhand is solid for the most part, and he can change direction with it easily.
Great Racquet head speed in hitting low balls.
A decent serve.
Better return than most nextgenners except for Zverev.
What's your opinion, my fellow posters??

0-0 H2H with Djokovic like I said yesterday.

Of the NextGen he actually intrigues me a lot in that potential matchup. Despite inconsistency and movement concerns, there’s something there. He has the air of someone who could follow the Wawrinka/Soderling blueprint and have a brilliant ball-bashing session for 3+ hours and surprise Djokovic. He could also lose 2nd Round. But he doesn’t have the obvious return or BH flaws of a Berre/Tsitsipas.

His serve is known to fall apart with fatigue though, keep that in mind before you bet on him.

I don't think Andrey is ready to be the one to stop the Joker, but can he go very far in the tournament ? Absolutely, why not trying to reach his first slam SF.

I think his will to win and emotions on court make me feel he will do something Big in Tennis, you get a feeling he really loves Tennis which you don't find that much in other Next gen guys. A matchup with Djokovic could be interesting as game wise there are no particular loopholes so it's not like djokovic will easily dispatch him

2nd serve could be a problem

Rest of his game is on point

If he gets taken down it will be because of 2nd serve, scoreboard pressure, serving last behind a huge first server
Someone like Djokovic will even put pressure on his first serve, so even more pressure than usual on hiis 2nd serve

If he meets a big server, he's getting knocked out. I'd judge his chances according to the draw honestly
^^ It used to be that I would mostly use the surface to determine my dark horses. Now that the surfaces are jacked (and most everyone plays the same way), it has much more to do with match-ups/draws.

For more than a decade, 98% of the draw has been made up of horses. 2% of the draws have been the thoroughbreds. Which means that if it ain't gonna be one of the usual suspects . . . it literally could be anyone else.

Don’t be fooled by the Rublev run at an ATP 500 near a slam. I say this as a fan of Rubes. First round or QF at Wimby, take your pic. It’s 50-50.

Rublev has a chance at taking the #3 spot from Nadal if he wins the final tomorrow and wins Wimbledon

But seriously, Rublev struggles too much with big with both big server and variety, both of which are strong on grass. So despite his ability to yet again go deep in a 500 event at Halle I'm not optimistic about his chances at Wimby

Could be...he is yet to be added on the Djoko list of slam victories.
AO 2021 Medvedev
RG 2021 Titsipas
Wimbledon 2021 final Rublev/Zverev?
Uso 2021 final RublevZverev?

The odds of Djoker winning Wimbledon are almost 50%. Nobody else is even close.

The rest of the field has a collective 50% chance. Everybody is a Dark Horse.

He has all the tools he needs to beat anyone but I doubt he keeps it altogether and his serve isn’t strong enough to give him any margin for error.

The NextGens have shown that they don't have the ability to win their first slam final, so Rublev's dark horse chances of winning Wimbledon are below Medvedev, Zverev, and Tsitsipas.

LOL! Wounded warrior Muzziah getting the same odds as The Thin White Serf. Is this in men’s Wheelchair division???

Rublev problem is same as Med , Zverev and Tsitsipas . They all need decent draw and early luck in on grass to survive the first week , after that they can play good depending on the opposition.
Even Stan never made to the semi and he was better player
