anyone like AFL footy?

To me AFL will always mean "American Football League" (before the merger with the NFL). I can't watch that Arena Football League stuff...to me it is like watching wiffleball and calling it baseball. BTW, what is this Australian AFL, rugby or that Aussie Rules football thing?

Nevermind, I just looked it up. In the U.S. we call it "Australian Rules Football". It used to be on TV here many years ago, ESPN I think. It's funny how different country's have a different meaning for the word "football". Well, I guess other than the US, Canada and Australia where we say "soccer", football is that game that is going on in Germany right now. :)

Looks like the doggies are in for September action. Impressive tonight. I had West and Power in my dreamteam :D West Coast went down to Port! Port are looking good. I'd say they are looking at a top 8 finish.

yeah bulldogs should get in easy. i really hope your wrong about port. hopefully theyll fall in a slump now and lose the last 10 matches. west coast havent been looking good at all recently so hopefully this isnt an indicator that port are doin well. the eagles have been lucky to escape with their last 4 matches b4 this 1. their luck was always eventually gonna run out.

Split rounds suck.

Another thing I hate is that the season is only 22 rounds, which means that you only play certain teams twice. This is an obvious disadvantage to some teams. They should get rid of the pre-season comp and make the season 30 rounds, with 2 or 3 bye weeks.

agree totally. theres no reason why there shouldnt be 30 rounds. itd be a much more equal competition. people complain that 30 weeks is too long for the players, but theyre professional athletes so they should be able to play for that long.

essendon are PATHETIC!!!!!! 1 win this entire season... absolutly NO reason why we lost tonight.... just pathetic.

Keep the faith Manda_D. I know we lost again..and could have won if we kicked straight in the last 10 minutes. The quality of the match was poor tonight. Heaps of mistakes from kangas and bombers.

We're now in a rebuilding phase like the eagles were a few years back.
Atleast finishing last we'll get decent draft picks. :D

i no, i no, but i cant wait 3 years for us to be good again!!! iim just very disappointed with them this year.. we lost so many matches that should have been ours and theres no excuse.. now fletcher is injured so were pretty much screwed now. so looks like we'll stick with our 1 win for the season.. hooray...

Yep, with a few decent draft picks, we will be laughing. We will try to win matches, but this season is practically a write-off anyway.

This may sound silly, but if we had Lloyd in, I think we would be close to the top 8. He is that important to our structure. He lets Hille free in the ruck, lets Lucas move up the ground, and he averages 4 goals a game himself. Without him, we are nothing. They say that one player doesnt make a team, but in our case, it does :D

However, its not all bad. Jobe Watson is averaging 23 disposals a game, and Stanton is also racking them up. Lovett and Lovett-Murrary are players for the future.

And I believe Sheedy should stay.

yes yes yes!!! agree with everything you said then.

i think for the rest of the season we should try and rest our big players and push them down into reserves and give the youngens some real game time and see what we have to work with and see who we have to say good bye to at the end of the season.

I too agree about Lloyd. That's 90 goals extra this season we lost. Hille can't make that amount up.

Btw, I've heard rumors that Lloyd isn't plaining a coming back. He's going to concentrate on his media career..

Not me. I don't care much for Rugby, though I do appreciate how big this match is for both states.

On another note, anyone want to see AFL State of Origin back? I would love it. I couldn't think of anything better for the game.

AHHH JAMES HIRD!!! if he retires now.. we have absolutley no hope. *even though he will be out with the injury anyway!* lol. poor kid.

I think Jobe Watson could take the B&F from Lucas. He has been fairly consistent.

yeahh i reckon they will do alright. i highly doubt that it will be an all victorian grand final so yeah. im thinking it'll be eagles vs crows which will be 1 hell of a final

yeah the non-victorian teams will dominate i think. too strong for the vics.

good match 2nite between the bulldogs and bombers. if the bulldogs play well next week they could pinch a final.

pfftt. even if he does stay at brizzy... as if he'll get a game. they'll throw him into reserves and he'll end up leaving them anyway. so either way he wont play there.

still hoping eagles win the flag. they do still have a very slim hope. haha
