just came back from another league match and about 2.5h of play altogether in singles and doubles.
it was a very hot and humitd day out there and the string played softer but also the balls had a "different" behavior, in spite of being the same balls we usually play for all the matches (babolat team - quite playable). the spin was still dipping in and kicking off high on my second serve, could hit some aces (small wonder with my shoulder but nevertheless), but some slices sailed long (half a foot - 15cm) and the two droppers i tried went to be some half-lobs (so i refrained from hitting others).
so basically i do think that the string still plays solid, the "weird" feeling on some strokes should be rather due to the heat. honestly, i wished today i'd strung it another 0.5kg higher (so all in all 1kg), but only on those "specialty" shots, the others simply clicked without much thinking about.
this evening i'm going to give them another run as i do some practice with my son for two hours.
on the central mains the profile has worn down quite a bit in the mean time, but there still are some remnants left. as stated above, the topspins were still dipping before the baseline, so this just comes to validate my theory that less than 2 (max.3%) of the spin is generated by the string, the rest is the player.
on the other hand i could not see and feel that precision on volleys was less due to the texture, as some players report.
