At what juncture would Fed fans stop wanting more ?

Hahaha this forumis hilarious - everytime one of the big three win a slam, their fans then assume they are going to win the next seven or eight in a row.

I'll never get tired of wanting more titles for Federer. But I won't ask for more with too much fanboyism if he wins 19th in Sunday, basically because I've always thought that Roger will end with 19 Grand Slams in total.

As a fan I had always wanted to win his 8th SW-19 trophy but he came up short in '14-'15. Even at the start of the year I thought it'd take a miracle for Fed to achieve it but he totally turned around the tables in 2017. Never in my wildest dreams I imagined him winning winning AO ever again but it happened. After the win, I had stated (on my previous account) that even if Federer goes out in R1 in every tournament he plays I'll be extremely satisfied this year and I'll stick with it :)

So, there are no limits. As long as he's playing well and he enjoys it, go for it all!

If there's one thing that economics gets right, it's that human desires are practically limitless :p

At 21 majors I figure he can give the rest of the field a break and just play for creative purposes

Ok, let us assume Fed gets Wimbledon even though he is very far from it still.

First it was the need for 18, now the quest for 8th Wimbledon. I am sure come USO timeframe some fans would want him to get the 6th USO to have lead there . I would not be surprised if fans would want a 6th AO to draw level with Novak to get lead / joint lead at 3 of 4 majors , the record he held before.

At what point does the wish stop ? Would it be when Novak and Rafa stop winning ? Or as long as he plays you will want him to keep winning ? Is 20 the final number ? At what point would you say I don't care if he wins or losses anymore ?

My first post here, yay!

As a Fed fan, this is an unbelievable year. However it is somewhat dampened for me because I was really looking for Djokovic in the Wimbledon SF and a vindication chance for Fed to totally destroy him. Djokovic folded with his noodle arm and I am afraid Fed may never really get to avenge those losses afterall...

Here are my wish lists:

1) GS count = 22 (I had Fed penciled for W 17, USO 17, W 18 and USO 19 - this prediction is made on reddit's tennis thread using my handle which I will reveal some time in the future, the last title being his last title on the farewell tour)
2) At least one more year at #1 and one more YE #1 finish
3) At least 1 (preferably 2) YEC titles to push his tally to 8
4) 100+ total titles

Icing on the cake:
1) A win over Nadal at FO
2) Any additional wins over Nadal at a GS anywhere
3) Wins over Djokovic at W and USO (require at least one major demolition like how we used to humiliate Hewitt and Roddick)
4) La Decima at Wimbledon
5) Edit: Almost forgot. 110 total ATP singles titles.

Granted, and before this years AO, I had made my peace that Fed would probably retire with 18 (he was bound to get 1 farewell slam like Sampras), and could possibly be called one of the 3 best players ever (Djokovic and Nadal were close, and Nadal could endanger his slam count).

Then, the AO happened. Then, IW and then, Miami. I am on record on reddit saying that Miami title was hugely important for Fed, when most people were ready to simply be satisfied with even less.

But I guess Fed himself differs. He's smelled blood. 3 straight wins over Nadal go a long way redefining his career; an additional slam was sweeter. Now #19 is in real reach. The slam gap is widening, Djokovic is slumping and may never be what he once was. Nadal is like a candle burning bright before it completely goes off. Seriously, even Nadal may not come back in his 2017 form ever if he fails for the rest of the year (and I fully expect him to fail and not win any significant title).

Who will challenge him for the USO? I cannot see anyone. Also, Fed last won this in 2008. Even Nadal has since 2 USO titles since then!!! This was one of the Fed's best tournaments, and he hasn't won it in almost a decade now. He is due for a USO title too, and it will be a shame if he doesn't take it this year with this insane form.

I might even have understated his title total. If Fed is very smart, plays only the USO, at most 2 MS events (Cincy and one of the indoor ones), and the YEC, he has a real chance to continue with his dominant form in 2018 and take 2 or even 3 slams. Of course, I don't want to overstate too much and jinx it, so I am calling it now - I will be satisfied with my wish list with 22 slams.
