I think those trophies are much nicer than the actual big cup that the Year End No 1 holds. What do you think?

Also, I saw in a documentary that apparently Hewitt had the trophy in his house. I don´t think players are left the big cup. I´m not sure how that works anyway.

Definitely agree, great looking trophies.

Yeah I'm a bit torn, I think the old "#1" trophies are fantastic however if you are going to go back to that you surely also need to re-instate the old glass Masters series trophies as well (as seen below)! Whilst these are kind of cool I actually really like how each tournament now has a unique trophy which in some instances have strong connections to the local area....I also believe some tournaments need to try a bit harder on their trophy design....Miami I'm mainly looking at you and to a lesser extent Canada.

Interesting to see what the heavyweight title was like a decade ago.

now that we are into it, does the year-end #1 get to keep that big cup and take it home? or is it like with grand slams, also wonder the same about tournaments like queens and barcelona, it must be a big task to keep making those insanely big trophies year after year

I don´t think they take home the big cup or even a replica; I saw a documentary that I don´t found now with Hewitt and he was apparently in his home or a hotel showing the number one trophy, it looked the same that he holds in the court. In the Slams they receive a replica of a smaller size. In the case of the US Open I think the replica has the same size of the original. I don´t know about other tournaments.

I´m not sure when they started to give these trophies of number one to the ending year Number 1. I will upload some photos I find of players with the trophies.

Agree those No. 1 trophies look great. The get a year end number 1 rank is a huge achievement and the trophies are fittingly beautiful.

In the first minutes of this video Hewitt shows the replica trophys of US Open and Wimbledon; and also his trophy of number one of 2001:
