Always a great option hitting high balls to Nadal's backhand... his DTL is so sucky that it makes for a nice safe zone for the opponent...

You guys needn't be so worried. Nadal finds himself in these positions so often these days and ends up winning in straight sets anyway.

Even if he did somehow go 0-2 down in sets, the time it's taking for these games to be won and lost would leave Lacko with hardly anything to finish the job. They've played 5 games in what, 30-35 minutes? Djokovic and Murray are possibly the only players right now who could physically outlast Nadal in a marathon.

I think there's something wrong with his technique. His followthrough almost looks forced.

His success rate on JUST the DTL backhand must be less than 30% I think.

His grip on his backhand is too extreme. It's great to find angles and hit with topspin, but very shaky on flatter strokes or DTL shots.

Damn, this AO surface suits Nadal more than any on tour right now. And when you look back at 2011 AO, Nadal didn't drop a set before the torn muscle. Nadal had won 12 sets in a row.

Nadal to serve for the set... it will be the fourth set in a row that he wins against Lacko with a 6-2 score at the Australian Open if he holds.

Yeah. It's ridiculous. Nadal probably sometimes gets more spin from his backhand than his forehand!

I dunno the deal with Rafa. With his extreme grips, his mantra is mostly NEVER to hit flat, but just try to hit spin and get depth via elevation.

Of course this slows down his shots; he gets little penetration (through the court) and the bounce allows his opponent to hit through the ball on the rise.

Lacko is actually a good simulation of the way Federer will try to play when Nadal and Federer meet. Federer will try to hit Nadal off the court, although mix it in with some slice, but forehand-wise Lacko is hitting the cover off the ball as Federer will (or should) try.

It reflects how tailored his strokes are for claycourt game.

I agree, and I hope Nadal always keeps his strokes this way. Roland Garros is priority number one. Lose another match there, lose the aura there, and everything will become way harder. Lose at any of the other 3 slams, it doesn't matter.

Yeah. But he can even get exposed on clay. The last year, Djoko beat him easier on clay than he did on hardcourts.

In fact the only straight set matches out of the 6 they had were the ones on clay.

The reason Nadal is (or more accurately was) so good on clay has more to do with his movement and speed. and less with his shotmaking per se. That and the ability to hit in open stance on both wings..

Lacko destroying Nadal's cross court backhand. Rafa puts too much spin, and Lacko has painted the lines with some nice DTL forehand shots.

Ugh, I thought when Lacko broke back early on that this might be an entertaining match. Boy, was I wrong.

I agree, he started reasonably well but then started to lose a bit of the script...

Great hold by Lacko now with some great running forehands...

Nice stat on the AO TV feed now... so Lacko's service game comes down to winning the points on the ad side.

He's winning only 21% of points in that side now (61% in the tournament).

I can see Nadal vs Djoker with once again, Djoker beating Nadal.I am curious to see if Nadal has doned anything different to play Djoker.Thats been Fed's problem when facing Nadal.

So far, Nadal has 14/14 W/UE ratio, Lacko only 9/18. Nadal getting 79% first serves, winning 85% on the first, but a measly 29% on the second.

Nadal's serve is MUCH slower than usual. Interestingly his serve speed last year was almost 8-10 mph higher on average basis.

The serve was one of the things that could him in trouble against Djoko in UsOpen and Muzz in Tokyo. Nadal needs to get the MPH on the serves. These powder puff serves of 175 mph won't cut it against the best returners in the game.

For some reason I only get audio on ESPN3. I'm really disappointed.

Man it isn't that tough. Upgrade your flash player. Use a different browser. Or use one of the other sites I linked in your thread. There are a ton of streams out there and the problems are pretty limited to issues on your end - codec/browser problems.
