so whats your say on this pure aero plus? I have a regular and it worked great it just need more power. def not like the old pure aero
Go buy it. it definitely has more power than standard length version. But you have to get used to that extra 1/2 inch. If you don't like extra long rackets, it isn't for you

I made the jump from Wilson Ultra Tour to the new Babolat Pure Aero 2019! Love hitting with it! Has substantial power, control and comfort! I have a feeling that this the racquet for me. I will be selling the my Ultra Tours later on. Switch the handgrips to the Wilson brand in the Ultra Tour however.:)

What grip size do you use ? This racket seem to work better if you use slightly smaller grip size than usual . This new grommet system seem to pocket the ball better, giving you slightly better control and spin.

Hello! What string tension would you recommend on the pure aero 2019? Im using a dunlop back widow 17g. Looking for a balance in power and control. Many thanks!

It's a powerful frame and black widow is soft and springy. Is cost a factor? I use Volkyl cyclone 17 in my APDs and Pure Drives because of its performance and value. It is a control string but also isn't totally dead like kirschbaum black shark.

I suggest the new Head Lynx EDGE 17g. It has the same 7 sides like Black Widow, but it is slightly firmer, (but not as firm as regular cyclone), is a little more powerful, more durable, and slipperier than the Black widow. Spin is better IMO than Black Widow because the Head string is slipperier and snaps back more. Control is better IMO because the edges don't round off as fast as Black Widow. My son played with the previous PA and now the new PA using Black widow for 2 years. We switched to the Head string 2 months ago and it was a definite improvement! You can tell it's a high quality made string when you look at it and feel it. Strung at 52lbs. Does not cause any arm issues. One of the best shaped polys I've tried.

If you want softer, Volkl V-torque Tour in 17g or 18g. This is another phenomenal string. Lots of power, control, and spin. Volkl cyclone tends to be too plastic feeling for me and a little too firm. Volk V-TORQUE tour can be strung a little higher.

Solinco Hyper-G 1.3 at 50 to 52lbs as a full bed.

Solinco Hyper-G 1.3 at 50 to 52lbs as a Main, Slippery round Poly as a Cross at 48 to 50lbs.

Or for a very inexpensive alternative (if you restring yourself)

Pros Pro Black Out 1.24 at 56lbs as a full bed.

I'll tell you another racquet that has close to the same specs as the Super lite, is the Volkl V-feel 5. I own it too. A little more power than the 2019 Super lite. They play very close with the Volkl feeling a tad stiffer, but not much. It looks cool too.

The Cobalt blue one is the Volkl V-feel 5. Other racquets are Volkl V-feel 4, Pure Aero 300g, and a 2016 PA+ <-- still the beast!

I still have a lot of strings left on my black widow and will get a new one maybe next year. I tried the kirschbaum black shark before and didn't like it. I will check the Volki cyclone you mentioned! thank you!

Thanks! The Solincos are a bit out of my price range. But would love to try it some time.

I used the black widow 17g at 52 lbs on my PA 2019 and it was great! I am loving the control and arm friendliness. I was surprised that my shots aren't flying around the court at 52lbs. With my previous pure drive, I string at 58lbs to keep the shots in court.

Well if you string your own racquets or can get them done for a cheap price, Pros Pro Black Out might give you great performance and a fantastic price.

Even better if you have multiple racquets.

Thanks to @Nostradamus for the tips!

52lbs works well with Black widow 17g. The only problem with that string is the durability and how the sharp edges start to round off rather quickly. The string will still perform, but you'll start to get a higher launch angle. Because the 2019 PA is not as stiff as the previous model, you can probably string it higher. The lack of durability from the Black Widow is what prompted the change. Lucky to get a day or two out of them and other times, only a few hours. The new Head Lynx Edge helped solved this problem and with better performance imo. Yes, it costs more, but it is a higher quality string. Black Widow is great when it's fresh. If you're a serious competitor, you're gonna need to carry around six racquets with you strung with BW if you want any consistency. For club and casual players, it's probably just fine.

How’s the comfort level on this puppy? I had to give up the 2007 version because it hurt my arm. But i loved that racquet.

Thanks, @DrWang ! I don't compete anymore so will probably stick with Black Widow then will try the Solinco later. :)

That's my concern too before getting this frame. So far, I have no arm / wrist issues. Arm issues may be attributable to strokes though.

WOW, Konta is great with this new aero.

Konta's recent good results have a lot more to do with her form and the way she is playing matches tactically rather than her racquet.

At elite level, a minor change in racquet does not produce incredible jumps in results.

She has been working very very hard off the court ... and she is now reaping the rewards of that work. Will be interesting to see how she goes during the Grass Season.

Agree. with that new and improved insane serve, she could win Wimbledon. She is my dark horse to win it all this year. In WTA, holding serve is after thought. Even with these improved 100 MPH serves that many women now have in WTA, they still can't hold serve. I know why but that is another thread.
Anyway, Konta has made her serve into a weapon now. Even when she is slightly tired, she can hit lines with 100 + mph serves on crucial points like break point against or game point. Trust me, 98 % of the women in WTA can't do that

Rafa does not use the Pure Aero Drive but the Aero Pro!
I think you meant to say that 'Rafa does not use the Pure Aero but the Aero Pro Drive [Original]', you seem to have misplaced the word 'Drive'; if you're going to be a pedant it's best to follow my lead and do it properly!;)

Well if you want to be really pedantic its official name is the Babolat AeroPro Drive. (There is no space character between the words "Aero" and "Pro")

:-D

Touche'! Although I've noticed Tennis Nerd and Tenn!s Expre$$ for example seem to use the space and non-space versions interchangeably. If you're going to put quotation marks on the words 'Aero' and 'Pro', for grammatical consistency you really should have put them on 'Babolat AeroPro Drive' as well. It's also questionable whether the capital 'P' is actually still grammatically acceptable when attached to the word 'Aero', but that's marketing for you.

@jmacdaununder2, I agree with everything you say relating to the grammatical rules.

However I understand that "AeroPro Drive" is a Brand Name rules of grammar don't necessarily apply.

You know, it's like "FCUK"

The 2019 Pure Aero is really an awesome frame. I liked the 2013 AeroPro Drive but didn’t like the 1st generation Pure Aero because it felt sluggish and lacked control. The 2nd generation Pure Aero is still a super powerful frame but feels and swings so much better than its predecessor. The spin is unbelievable and I’m actually really impressed with this frame.

Agree. I think slightly smaller grip size works even better for this racket too. you can whip it up faster for more topspin, it seems like. and more power on the serves too

Mannarino plays with old APD GT (or Cortex) in new PA paintjob.
I can not name anybody from ATP/WTA tour who really uses PA, except Johanna Konta

Completely agree! I normally use 4 3/8, but it seems like I could whip it around much faster using the 4 1/4 grip. I’m pleasantly surprised at the amount of control it provides. Almost begs me to swing harder and attack more. Such a fun frame. Never thought I’d say that about a 100” frame. It’s just pure fun seeing lots of movements on the ball.
