I agree with WAO, if you are having arm issues, then go for the much softer(and a little thinner at 1.23) flouro. If your arm is ok, then why pay the extra bucks when ALU power is so great.

yeah, agreed.

if your arm can handle it, the rough is probably the better deal. i find more spin, probably because it's stiffer, and hey, 2.50 less than flouro? with this stuff, even every little bit helps on the price :)

Don't forget about good ole big banger original. It plays a little softer than the alu and is about 90% as good as alu but only$12 a pack or so. If you've not tried it, you may be surprised, I know I was..

So what are you using these days?? I still have BG/Touch in mine, though while at the Open this year I droped off one of my sticks to get extended to 27.75 ( molded grip ). Get it back tomorrow and can't wait to hit with it. I know I will have to add more weight to the head. else it will be way to head light. Was told the molded grip adds 15g in weight.

That sounds really cool. I love to tinker with my setup!! What do you think the strung weight will be with the new grip? Your BH is going to be a monster. Who is doing the work in NY? Sorry for all the questions but I very curious.

I've gotten hooked this summer on lux again. The one thing holding me back on lux was the price and the BBO is pretty reasonable and while ALU is still too pricey in my book, I got some incredible deals on alu power a few weeks back so I couldn't say no. I went back to using full poly and I'm totally hooked now-the combo of power and spin from lux is something that I've not been able to duplicate yet, but I won't stop trying of course. I've also got a set of X1 I'm going to try as a full job-I've only used it in a hybrid and I'm going to try it at 60/58 and see how it goes.

In addition, if anyone is interested, TW is having a sale on the mini reel of BBO. It's marked down from 39.95 to 29.95. That works out to be around 24 cents a foot and is almost as cheap as if you buy a full reel so it's hard to beat.

The price...LOL. Seriously, if they were the same price, I would have a hard time choosing. In out and out performance, the alu is hard to beat but the BBO is really close. I think BBO holds tension better.

It really comes to down to feel, when you really unload on a shot: either BH or FH, the alu just gives you that "x factor" feel in my book and it just rockets the ball where you want it. The BBO doesn't give that but it's close.

I hesitate to say it but I think I might get a little better action on the ball with the BBO since it's a bit thicker as well over the alu. Just my opinion though.

I don't find either to be harsh at all. The BBO is actually measured at a stiffness of 249 vs 242 for the alu power but I couldn't really find that much difference. The power is better for ALU but the control is tie.

If you like the rough you're using in your Wilson, I would be really surprised if you didn't also like the BBO. I've never used the BBO in a hybrid though.

Yeah I just got my K95 the other day and was just wondering if I would be able to use the BBO without much of a difference in play bc I wanted to soften up the stringbed since the 95 is stiff and I heard the BBO is softer. I've asked a few people about this, but what string do you think is the most similar to ALU, but softer?

i found i got more spin with BBO than any other luxilon string. some people claim to get more spin from it than even blue gear, but i can't comment, as i haven't tried it out. but definitely truckloads of spin from BBO.

Don't know exactly, but it should be here to day so I will put it on the scale. My guess is between 11.8 - 12oz. **** did the work. So if I like this one I will send a couple of more. Can't wait to hit tomorrow. I might go to the store tonight and pick up a set of Lux Alu and give it a nother try.

Now, you are getting into tricky territory..LOL. I used to use a PDR and I switched to the storm tour because it was softer and gave me more string options. I didn't like the lux in the PDR but there are alot of people who do.

I love the k95 and maybe you can still use either BBO or alu but just drop your tension a bit to reflect the stiffer nature. You are correct though since the Team has a 59 stiffness and the K95 is a 69 so that's a pretty good jump. That's a great stick though, you should be able to CRUSH the ball on the fh side.

One point on blue gear. I used it for quite some time and when the gears are new, it probably is the best string for spin. Once the gears wear down, the spin is about on par with BBO. It's the stiffness that continues to allow BG to keep up the spin and that's why I always used the 1.28mm in BG.

One final point on the alu versus BBO. The alu is a 1.25 and the BBO is a 1.30 so it's going to feel a little thicker as well. I consider that a plus but some people don't like the thicker strings.

Which Luxilon string is better, Luxilon alu power rough or alu power fluoro?

I personally liked the Alu power rough cause it was Stiffer. Fluoro is pretty Soft. Fluoro felt like it didn't have as good of control or power for that matter. but it is softer on the arms. Alu power has big time power and spin potential.

I had really forgotten just how satisfying the alu plays. It's expensive but when it's fresh it's hard to beat. That's sweet that **** did your work, their rep is so solid.

Depends on what you want.

Since I've been looking for a bit softer stringbed nowadays,s I go with FLouro.

I am also in love with LUX ALU power again. Althogh my sig would say otherwise. No other string has the power and spin.

Which Luxilon string is better, Luxilon alu power rough or alu power fluoro?

ALU Rough is my string. I have compared it to about a dozen or more other polys during he past 6 months. Only Lux Big Banger Original Rough comes close. If you are a heavy topspin player, it's the way to go. Fluoro would be better if you like the extra bit of power associated with a softer string and hit a little flatter so the texture doesn't matter, or just need a softer string for the arm.

Well got the stick on Friday. Played 6hrs over the weekend. The strung weight is 12.0oz (leather grip and 6g of lead at 12) So far my more pop on my FH/BH and serve ( all good things) touch wasn't bad either. Need to restring this evening. Told myself that I was going to hit with it for a month before I make any decision on sending more up to ****.

Wayne, sounds nice. Does it feel unwieldy around the net at all? Probably a good idea on waiting a month and see how it all goes at the end of the honeymoon period. I like to spend some time with an XL and really groove my strokes with one. Everytime I've demoed one, I've really liked them. (PDR and PST)

Didn't feel to bad at the net. Felt like I had more punch on my volleys. The real test on that is I have a doubles match this Sunday. Definately want to give it time to see if it is what I want and is game improving long term. Well last night it got a fresh string job BG 54/MT 57. Hitting tonight.
