Loved the YY7500 back in the '70s....still have my brother's 8500 from back then ;)
The wooden pallet was in the early editions, BTW(but, you probably knew that). A Yoneyama cover would be perfect for it!!!
It came with its original Yoneyama cover as well. This was the first racquet I can remember playing with.

Hello party people, coming to you guys live and direct from the Spanish third world country thrift store where I passed on two Prince CTS Thundersticks but think I will pick up Jimmy Connors T2000 for $5.99 and a Head Graphite Director for $5.99. Over and out.

In a Spanish third world country they had those rackets ? Really curious

Haha, here in America but none of the employees speak English. Apparently none of the patrons are into tennis or baseball either. Also scored a Mizuno baseball glove.
You risk a lot traveling to those countries. I think many practice anthropophagy : especially those who do not speak english and those who don't know about tennis or baseball.

Best regards and good tennis

Oh snap, I’ve come across some of those in the past but they are always warped to ****. Nice find. Actually a lot of the racquets I see in Hoodwill have frame damage, not symmetrical, warped... do you all find that too?

Was there yesterday and saw a Wilson Sting largehead in fantastic shape for only a few dollars. Passed it up only because I prefer the midsize.

Damn. I have one of those large heads, and they are a sweet stick. That being said I havent had the opportunity to find a midsize yet.

Visiting my parents for a week. While in town I decided to do some racket shopping. Bought a Volkl BB 11L on the local classified ads yesterday virtually brand new (original black grip was disintegrtaing and making a huge mess of my hands though). Price was $25 and it was strung with Wilson NXT 16. Not a bad find I thought, though I never like to pay much for ANY racket [emoji1]. Drove up the road and went to a large thrift store I had never been to before. They had several rackets for only $3.99 including a Prince Spectrum Comp 90, a brand new 1980's Pro Kennex frame I am unfamiliar with (was too flexy for me though) and a Wilson Hammer 6.4 PH 95. While those were really good buys, what completely threw me for a loop was the Vantage VT Custom racket in excellent shape for only $4.99!!!!!!! Realizing that the cost of this racket is 50 times that, I had to wonder WHY someone would just give up their custom racket??? On the other hand, at a Goodwill yesterday I bought Onkyo THX home theater speakers (which weigh like 20 lbs a piece) for only $2.99!!! Insanity to the higest degree [emoji16]

Hey legrandLeconte, do you own a Fischer Pro Classic 90, the one Henri used during the famous Davis Cup tie against the USA ?

I have never ever seen ANY player, I mean ANY, reaching such a level of tennis since Leconte that weekend of December, 1991. No matter where, no matter who.

I once met him, in 2006. We had a few words briefly and, how stupid I am, I completely forgot to congratulate and thank him for such a week-end. Unforgettable in every aspect, at least for me.

Great racket for a great player

If you look at my post from Dec 19 of last year, you will see my pics of the one Leconte is holding in that picture. It is a BEAST of a racket (unstrung close to 350g). I still have to restring mine and give it a proper test though. With the right string and tension, I know very few rackets that can equal or suprass what this does. Serves and volleys are a breeze, and making solid contact with the ball gets it moving with mind-numbing speed and accuracy. I can say this because I have several hundred player's frames in my collection to date and this does something bordering on magical!

On a different note, I just scored a Volkl C8 comp and Volkl C9 comp in excellent condition with racket covers this morning, immediately after getting of the plane and dropping off my luggage. A guy was repatriating and was getting rid of all his stuff. I BEGGED him to hold onto the rackets and I would hurry from the airport to meet him as he was moving out of his home today and would be handing over the keys! I am severly jetlagged now, but still the proud owner of 2 exceptional rackets which I wanted to get get my hands on to try out. He asked €7.50 for each racket [emoji4][emoji7]

Indeed that is a be(a)st of a racket. Couldn't quite handle it due to its too-high swingweight for me but tried it (desperately) a few times and I loved it.

Nice airport story (y):D

I agree 100%

An incomparable genius with an extraordinary racket : a perfect team.

The most talented player I ever saw . I don't care about anything GS won't win. Neither its irregularity.
Should not be forgotten . With my profile I pay a small tribute.
Very happy to find partners who also enjoyed their game .

I don't have the Pro Classic 90 (envy), but I hope to fix that soon.

Just picked up another Wilson t2000 today at Goodwill today for $3.99. Looks like a chore to string if I hit with it enough, and I would also have to order nylon strings.

passed over a Pro Kennex Graphite Ascent 95 and Pro Kennex Graphite Exodus today. Couldn't find any info on either frame. Anyone here have knowledge of one or both of these frames? TIA

Not a racquet but an item!

$3 AUD a set. Bought both since that's all that was there at the thrift store.

First time ever having/trying natural gut. It's pretty crispy...
Looking through the archives, could this be 20 years old string set?

9f234d31a7bdb7598d00f4d5acf073ef.jpg
I think that packaing is no more than ten years old. The string should be fine if it wasn't exposed to summer trunk type heat.

Oh it's pretty good, as you can see the set underneath is already open. Got it strung as a hybrid and it was pretty stiff at the start but now its playing great and comfortable. News was that Lleyton Hewitt's old gear was donated to the thrift shops around my city. I have purchased old stock Nike Court apparel in size M (still with tags on them) and apparently someone bought a whole Yonex bag with some racquets in it.

Looking at the web.archive, the earliest that TW stocked these were around 2002 and the pictures of the packaging had a little window to see the string whilst the ones I got doesn't. Surely these are more than 10 years.

Found several cool frames last week, but will take some pics before posting. I found this beautiful, near mint condition Wilson BLX Pro Open today for only €5. Only the grip is slight worn out (seeing its now 10 years old already).

Never played with this one before, and honestly a bit on the lighter side for my tastes, but since the reviews are so good on this racket I am really curious to see how it will perform on court.

I passed up a Prince Graphite Pro 110 since oversize rackets dont gel with my game much, but a few minutes later I saw a gentleman walking with it in his hand and feeling good, so I was happy for him ;-)

Not good will, but we struck gold on offerup this week. I got a prince o3 speedport black lb, which I got for 30, although not cheap, and worn through the bumper at 12, I am playing great tennis with its massive power. My dad got a pair of clash 100 for 80. Wilson quality hologram sticker was removed but pretty sure that it is real, based on playability and quality.

Volkl Power Bridge 10 Mid for £3 in spit spot condition.

Now THAT is a really good find at a proper price!

I acquired one last hear from a hitting partner. He sold it to me after having little success with it himself. We both love classic players frames and the specs (and online reviews) say this one should be a good hit. Sadly, it remains one of those rackets that I want to love, but just can't seem to make it work.

I have even done my best to make all kinds of adjustments, but its balance/swingweight plus its feel in the upper hoop just dont do justice to the other "10's" from Volkl I have hit with in my opinion. Of course it does play well for some, otherwise it would not be such a well-loved racket.

Found a Dunlop Biomimetic 400 for about €2.50 :) Once again a bit on the light side for me, but like the Wilson BLX Pro Open I scored earlier in the week, it is ripe for customisation. Looking forward to see how the Dunlop compares to the Wilson as both are 100 sq inches, around 300g unstrung...and a flex between 66 & 68 RA. Both are also superbly comfortable frames for their stiffness rating too!

Speaking of which, I took the Pro Open for a spin this week with the old Wilson Sensation 15 strings in it. In spite of the Sensation being terrible strings for long rallies with spin, the racket was indeed extremely comfortable and easy to hit with. What suprised me was the ease with which this racket serves. Even better to serve with than the Babolate Pure Drive in my opinion, and with laser speed and consistency... unlike anything I have served with for a very long time. Now I just have to add a bit of weight to the hoop and put some new strings in & I might have a new "love" :)
