I just checked the results. Djokovic lost against Istomin, on Plexicushion?? That's double WTF moment.

If only Fed could take advantage of this. But he's always unlucky with his timing.
Although 18 would be magic, at least he and his fans are safe now:). Cant see his slam rec or weeks as nr 1 rec will be under attack for at least a decade. The epic era of the big4 is soon coming to an end, it will be strange.

Do we have to go through this again?

If it wasn't for that injury, HE would have been a bottom half finalist in AO last year already.

Now, HIS tactic for doing massive damage in Melbourne is quite cunning. Otherwise HE wouldn't be #3 (BEST EVER #3).

HE let Nadal beat HIM in Mubadala, then got HIS revenge at a much more important Brisbane.

HE let Dimitrov beat HIM in Brisbane tournament, but is now in perfect position to get back at Grigolo at a much more important Australian Open.

To make it worrying for Magnanimous Muzziah and his followers, HE let the new knight beat HIM in Mubadala, just like Nadal. See where this is going?

Beware, because THE BEAST is coming...

...and will he take down Andy/Stan? :).

...Sorry, didnt see your last sentence regarding the "Magnanimous Muzziah and his followers". Guess that says it all! ;). Id be happy with a new and younger winner, hope Milos can prove me wrong!

I went for the young one handed backhander!

The signs are there that MILOS would have a great chance in the final regardless of his opponent. We know who sent Stan packing at the previous AO while the injury saved Murray from going out as well. You can even throw Federer as a possibility but we all know he couldn't beat MILOS even at his favorite Slam.

It will be between Raonic/Dimitrov and Nadal i think but i'm gonna go with Raonic. Dimitrov might not get past Gasquet in all honesty, he absolutely tore apart Berlocq today and Nadal might have his hands full with Zverev

Zverev isn't ready yet. He was hitting balls on the roof and breaking rackets in round 1. Rafa or Milos. Gasquet is playing pretty well also, he'll have a sniff.

Trolling? I am just stating the truth (note that 2014 was pre-prime MILOS :p).

I wouldn't mind Grigor getting that far either. If he keeps going in the right direction then great, the lost generation might save itself.

What I want the most is a good final contest. Now that my favorite who also eventually always wins on that stage isn't there, this hopefully isn't too much to ask.

I like Milos. I like the way Nishi has been playing (hitch serve and all) and Sasha is young and combines the talents of the other two (power, speed, shotmaking if not raw).

Unfortunately for these three 'winners' though, my foresight is noted to be wrong in 99th percentile. Should be entertaining though. Murray is a tough out and as long as a healthy Fed remains in the draw he's a threat.

Well now that we are into trolling:). It will be most difficult for both Milos and Grigor to get past peak prime Istomin, after all he took out GOAT peak-Djoker at his favourite slam!

Given how well Raonic played against Murray here last year, the tennis gods owe him an ao final. He's now experienced a slam final, and he has that extra bit of motivation of redressing the wrong of being robbed here.

No votes to young Thieminator and Goffin?

Goffin has been the bagel-man, double-bageling Berdych last year, then bageling Stepanek after fighting down big server Opelka in 5 sets.

Thieminator is showing better play after a weak start this year.

Yes, Gasquet is very good at taking care of pretenders. Doesn't like pretending much.

I'd go with Raonic. He had good results on slow HC last year and he's the only player in the bottom half who has a big weapon that he can firmly rely on. Zverev and Dimitrov are too inconsistent to win 6 BO5 matches in a row. Nadal's serve is a liability and Rafa's always in big trouble if he struggles to make impact in his opponent's service games. Interesting to see how he does against Zverev in the next round.

I think it will be Raonic. Yawn. :( Another player who has zero charm in my book win or lose.I dont trust Rafa anymore.

Dimitrov is gonna do everything in his power to make sure Federer gets #18.

He's gonna take out all the big players on the bottom half. So when we get Fed v. Baby Fed final we'll know who wins.

Very courageous of Dimi. More courageous than actually winning a slam for himself. He's thinking of the greater good.

I dont trust Rafa anymore.
Rafa has been very erratic, but if he can conjure up a version of himself even remotely close to his former glory, he would be very dangerous. Rafa is always better on Bo5, and at the later stages. As this thing progresses I will start Bullieving.

No he is no longer a better player in best 5 or more dangerous. He lost to Fognini after 2 sets up and a break up in third in Us Open. Can you believe this ?? From this day on ı never take Rafa all that seriously and that happened in 2015 not even last year. I love Rafa but he isnt a contender for anything big for very long time now nearly 2 years if not more.

Voted Dimitrov. Despite all the potential, Zverev's messing around with Haase is troubling. Stamina might not be the issue as Zverev won 10 straight games in 4th and 5th sets. If Zverev gets by Nadal his confidence and game will have to keep rising especially for Monfils (but here the 5 set format may help Zverev.o_O) Monfils may turn out to be an absolute load and he's well rested having not played any warmup events. Nadal could somehow squeek through, but for all top form RaoMug awaits.

Thiem is still alive and really like his form for much of the Dimitrov Brisbane match, but ulitimately Dimitrov prevailed against some of Thiem's best tennis. Goffin beat Thiem last year at Auz, but seems to be off to a sluggish start this year after a great Fall season. Thiem could somehow get my Paire, Goffin, and Dimitrov for the SF, but Raonic would be doom for him. Thiem could possibly get by Nadal or Zverev for the final with Murray. A beasting Thiem could hit through an off form Murray. If Thiem can bring his 2nd set form from the Brisbane Dimitrov match he could go all the way, but if Raonic is one of the matches, he'd have to be injured for Thiem to prevail.

Nadal is a confidence machine. If he builds up momentum, watch out.

As much as i like Rafa, i cant see him winning another slam. He has only been in two QF's sinse he won his last FO in 2014, soon its 3 years. Cant blame it on Murray, Djoker or Fed either, they havent stopped him except FO15, which he probably wouldnt have won anyway.

Post FO 2014-present says otherwise.

He has actually been better in BO3 since mid 2014.
