C10 feels heavier?

Hi all,

I am demoing 4 racquets (C10, V1 10yr, Slaz X1, PS6.0 85). As many say, X1 is a very well balanced, sweet stick. V1 was very comfortable and spin-friendly but too powerful. PS6.0 85 was fun to hit with, especially serve with 85 was great. Strokes were more demanding but again, serving with 85 was a fun. Then C10. Kinda metallic feel, flexible, good power. But first impression was its swing weight. I don't know why it feels heavier than others or whether it really felt heavy. Its weight is something like 12oz but many say C10 tends to tire arm while others say it's maneuverable. Anyone knows why? And do some really think this is the BEST racqeut ever made? Anyway, it's a very good racquet. I just want to hear what Volkl-C10 lovers have to say. Thanks.

PS) I am feeling a little bit of wrist pain after the demo session with those 4 racquets. Can you tell which one might have given me the pain? Thnx.

thanks for the inputs.

I suspected 85 too. First night I brought them to a public court to hit against wall. Unlike the others, when I tried 85, I felt some vibration from hitting. Partly due to darkness and probably due to its small sweet spot. When I missed its sweetspot, 85'd mercilessly rotate or when I hit the upper part, vibrated. But during daytime, I felt it (85) was amazing serving stick. Truly and magically most balls landed where I intended (Flat serve). Almost surreal...

My main playing racquet-PS6.0 95 doesn't serve like that. V1 was light and easy to swing so serve was 'easy'. C10 felt heaviest and solid. Slaz X1 was like prostaff6.0 95.

BTW, how do you know the size of sweetspot? From hitting sensation or is there any way to tell? Hitting against my head or hand?

I've been playing recently with the c10 extended, after stints with the radical, prince nxg, bab pd, and demoing many others. After a brief adjustment, I find I can serve the lights out with it, get great spin, control, feel, and just the sweetest feeling imaginable when really hitting out on the ball. Tried the tour 10 and it was also nice, but the c10 is just a really yummy hit. The most pleasurable feeling I've ever had hitting a ball...

Hi Brent

Thanks for sharing your experience with C10. I thought I almost finished my racquet quest with prostaff6.0 95s but C10, PS6.0 85 are still interesting me and someday might get a V1 just for fun. Funny thing with C10 was that I felt it's kinda heavy and people say it's heavy while 85, PC600 didn't feel heavy at all. I will have another chance to hit with C10 soon. I will see. Enjoy tennis!

PS) have you tried V1s too? I felt very weird. Maybe I got used to 12oz racquets or low power racquets. When I hit with V1, ball just sailed away!

Hi Tenny - Not sure if you understood that Brent was talking about the C10 Xtended which is a different and lighter racquet than the regular C10 Pro standard. The C10 Xtended is a great racquet that, as far as I know, is no longer made. They are available used from time to time. The C10 Xtended is 27.6 inches long and weighs 10.9 ounces unstrung whereas the C10 Pro standard is the standard 27 inches long and weighs 11.6 ounces unstrung. Quite a bit heavier than the Xtended.

Michael.

Now I see. I had only one night to try the C10. My arms might have been tired that specific night. Or its metallic yellow paintjob gave me that 'heavy' impression. I will find out soon cause I will have another chance. Thanks!
