Just curious....can players who are either M or T rated be bumped up or down? I have a C rating, but I play in a lot of tournaments. There’s one lady in particular who has been a 3.5T forever, never plays league, but she beats just about everyone at both singles and doubles. Seems like she should have been bumped up given her near-dominance. Her 2017 tournament dubs partner, who also played league and was a 3.5C, was bumped to a 4.0C last December, but they both seemed to be of equal capability.
Tournaments do count toward your rating in my section. I know they don’t in others, which makes the bumping up/down question even more intriguing: if you only have a T rating (say a 3.5T) but kill the competition in tournaments, but your section doesn’t factor tournaments into your rating, then how could you ever bump up to 4.0T? Similarly, if you play 3.5 mixed in tournaments only, and have improved considerably over the years to the point where you crush your 3.5 competition and can hold your own against 4.0’s, how could you ever bump to 4.0M?
