Nadal seems to play his best in an Olympic year - 2008 he had an unbeaten streak of 32 matches in a row winning titles at Hamburg, FO, Queens, Wimby, Canada, Cincinnati SF and then won Olympics gold medal
His match record was 38-1 after Olympics and stretched it to 43-1 before losing to Murray at USO SF.

That was a great performance winning 6 titles in 7 tournaments -3 Majors including 2 Grand slams and Gold comprising of 2 clay, 2 grass, 2 Hard in a matter of 3 months.

Immediately Djoker comes to mind having started with a 43 match streak last year winning 7 titles - 4 on Hard , 3 on clay 1 on grass but he did not play warm up for Wimby so didn't win multiple titles across all 3 surfaces.

I know since Djoker won it in 2011, it is fresher in our minds, but if we analyze objectively would Nadal's achievement be counted as good if not better when one looks back after a few years ..Nadal's was possibly one of the best periods of domination in all time across all surfaces. Is there some thing comparable in the recent years where some one has won multiple titles across all surfaces ? Can Nadal equal his own peak domination

I certainly think its possible. To me, the third most impressive thing in tennis (behind the CYGS and the Career Grand Slam), is winning the Channel Slam, something Nadal did in 2008. Couple that with his strong record that year, and you have the possiblity of one of the best years ever. Behind Fed's 2005 and 2006, Mac's 1984, perhaps Connors' 1974, but definitely one of the top.

Of course he can and even surpass it, why not?
In 2008 he hadn't made the AO final and had lost in 1st match in 1 clay master.
This is gonna be a good season for Rafa. He likes even numbers: 2008, 2010 and now 2012.

It would be great for Men's tennis to have three way race but the two majors will be the main clincher for No.1 year end ranking

Seriously? Nadal likes even numbers so he will do well this year? I guess liking something means your year will be highly successful.
