Choking grip on the Court

What do you think of this? got any explanation?

When I'm on the baseline or further back I'm not choking my grip on the groundstrokes as much as I'm moving further to the net. I think it's something mental, like, choking the grip will make a stroke more compact, or, then me racquet won't slip. What do you think? Is it a personal mental thing, or do I really change my groundstroke by choking (making it shorter?)

Ridicioulus question, I know, but I have to hear your opinions, It's bugging me:p

Mattle,

I am getting the feeling you are a perfectionist and will isloate and examine every minute detail of a tennis stroke. My advice? Don't. It will screw with your brain.

This is a ridiculous question. I think you are saying that your are squeezing the grip real hard. Again my advice? Don't. You do not want to hit the ball with real tense muscles, that is not good technique.

There has been much written about the pressure that needs to be applied by the hand on the handle. Why would you think we would say this is okay now when nearly every coach here has said it is not already?

Further, you can have a compact stroke without squeezing the handle real tight.

If you are talking about choking UP on the handle, I can buy that with volleys, maybe at times grounstrokes, and return of serves. I would rather see it for return of serves then anything else.
