Comparable racquets to PT2.0

I am currently using the Head Pro Tour 2.0 with no modifications other than a leather grip. I love how it feels on groundstrokes and volleys especially with ALU Power at 48lbs.

Serving with it is a bit different. I am pretty sluggish with it and is a beast to handle.

Is there anything out there that plays similar (penetrating groundstrokes and plowthru) but is also more forgiving and easier to serve with?

I'm also looking for something similar to 2.0 in terms of feel. It would've been nice if 2.0 was available in 16x19.

I just got a C10 Pro and my initial impression was just meh. Hopefully fresh string job brings some magic.

I played with the PT2.0 for a year, loved its precision and consistency and plow. I've recently been playing with the Tecnifibre TF40 305. It's definitely more forgiving than the PT in a couple respects: less jarring off center, bigger sweetspot, slightly more open version of an 18/20 pattern, and for that reason also somewhat easier spin. The TF40 is definitely less sluggish on serves. But it doesn't have the same degree of plow as the PT. And while the TF40 feels fine on volleys, it is not as sweet as the PT.
My impressions may, in part, be due to the specs of my frames. The swingweight on my TF is a bit under spec -- low 320s. I haven't tried to add weight to beef it up, as I've actually enjoyed having a slightly faster swinging racquet, even if it comes at the cost of losing some plow.

You could also make some adjustments to your current racquet: take off the leather and replace with a synthetic grip. That will at least lower the static weight and might make it less sluggish when swinging over head, as on serves. You could also replace the cap grommets with regular ones (some have commented on doing this successfully over on the longer PT2.0 thread). That will be the most effective way of bringing down the swingweight and making it come through the air faster. You could also experiment with thinner gauge strings -- that won't have the same degree of impact as changing the grommet, but it should bring down the swingweight a little bit.

Have you tried the Graphene 360+ Prestige MP?

Currnetly have Solinco Hyper-G 18g in one of them. Feels pretty good but I may have strung it too low (45lbs).

I will dig up the grommet code to replace the caps.

I changed a couple of my racquets to non cap grommets and use a poly in the mid 40’s and it’s just perfect for me. Changing the grommets definitely helps with the swing weight and I feel the plow through is obviously not as good but I do feel that it still has decent plow though. Also going with non cap grommets you have room to play with some lead. I also added the weighted 5g Head buttcap to give an even more headlight balance.

I will hit with it again and report back. But I remember feeling like there was something missing. A bit light. I strung it up with ALU power. Below 50 lbs
I liked it a lot more after adding 3g of lead @ 12, which was enough to ramp up the SW to 330-335.

I’ve thought about the Blade Pro. But don’t like the price tag. Are they spec’d to be customized?
You Can play them stock, its like a blade type specs but with more plow. Or if you add weight to the handle it's very close to more polarized easier to swing pt2.0 with bigger sweetspot. Plow is second to none

Wilson Ultra Tour/Pro would be the closest - correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the Ultra Tour/Pro is based off the original Head Pro Tour?

I've used the UTs. Added a lot of weight to them but they don't feel as solid as the PT2.0. Which is why I moved to the PT2.0 from them.

After watching an AC Tennis or TennisNerd review (can't remember which) where he suggested lowering the tension opens up the sweet spot a lot, I strung mine at 42#. It plays so much nicer and the sweet spot is biigger. None of that will help you in terms of serving but just a counterpoint to your idea that maybe you strung too low.

The BP is not easier to play with then the PT2.0. My BP had a swing weight of 349. It has great plow through but won't fix his issue. Another one for plow through is the RF97 but once again, that is a beast to use.

Head tour xtra long cut to 27”. 18/20. Lighter and easy to configure to your desired specs. nice sweetspot and feeling similar to pt.

I'd recommend you just work on your serve if that's the only issue with the racket.

Yeah try trimming some of the cap grommet off to lose some weight and make it easier to swing over your head. Might lose some plow on groundies but there is always a compromise somewhere.

I think the IG Radical MP would be easier to use than the PT 2.0. I believe that there is a brand new reissue being sold. One of my hitting buddies just picked up a couple of the brand new IGRMP’s and loves them. He used to use the LM Prestige MP.

BP is definitely not an easy stick, but I will say that when hitting it against the pt 2.0, the BP (even 18m) was a better/easier serving frame.

I know I know due to poor horrible Wilson QC this can be different from person to person but for me BP was easier to serve and use than PT 2.0

Just to update this thread: I have moved onto some TGT285.3s that I found on fleabay.

They came to me with silicone in the handle and some lead on the pallets. They clock in at 11.8 oz unstrung and 10 pts HL.

I have added some lead at 3&9 (I put lead at the same place that I could feel glue from previous lead) and they are up to 12.5-.6 oz strung.

I know that these are probably on the other side of the spectrum compared to the PT2.0....but they are currently making everything easier...volleys are easier and serving is easier and they have the same solidness that I was looking for.

It was AC Tennis, and the super low tension thing sounds weird at first, but it does open it up.

I do highly recommend the current gen G360+ Prestige Mid. The sweet spot is pretty generous and plays like a solid 95.
