Could any Big 3 member could beat Prime Bruguera on Clay and Prime PETE on Carpet in the same season?

Who could beat Bruguera on clay and Sampras on carpet?

Place them in say 1994 or 1996 or something, could any Big 3 member beat Sergi Bruguera at the mega slow 90s French Open and also Pete Sampras on lightning fast carpet at the YEC?

Caveat: they would have to do it in the same season.

Who would do it?

Sampras-Nadal in a fast indoor seems to be too much of a lopsided contest, as much as Rafa vs Sampras on clay. If Rafa couldn't beat Fedovic on indoor HC, Sampras might have been an even bigger challenge. Anyway it's a hypothetical, who knows Rafa could've pulled off an upset

Federer and Djokovic can definitely beat Bruguera and Sampras in those respective surfaces. Djokovic would struggle more against Sampras than Fed but he would be able to pull off some victories.

Djokovic is the only player who defeated clay goat and one of the best grass players multiple times on their preferred surfaces...If there is anyone qualified for the challenge that would be him.
He never won Halle(and queens) . The only tournament post 2006 on the real grass(or similar at the real grass)

Nobody can do it.

Seregei Bruguera can only be beaten by Nadal and Nadal cannot beat Sampras on carpets&grass
Federer can beat Sampras on carpets&grass but he cannot beat Sergei Bruguera on Clay.

Djokovic has some chance of sneaking in wins but chances are very very very less....

Sergi can loose to many players on clay even in 92,93,94 outside RG but beating Sampras on carpet can be really tough in these three year.
Actually the tougher assumption should be Sergi at RG and Sampras in yec, then I can see nobody from big three

Djoko never won on the real grass and he never won 9 Australian open on rebound ace or the grass
Please this is not about those two slams.

however - if we’re going to use this logic, Nadal never won on green clay and Federer never won a YEC on carpet, so they must be frauds.

Federer has 70% win record on carpets
He will do it in any era..

federer of course, novak probably. i think roger is actually better than novak at getting big serves on fast surfaces into play, although novak is obviously the better returner overall.

Fed is born the wrong era for his style of game

Disagree with both of your points tbh.

#1 - Djokovic never played on real grass and played 3 Rebound Ace AOs at the age of 18, 19 and 20. So, this is like saying that Nadal never won on green clay or Fed on carpet. They basically never played on the surface lol. Of course they didn’t win. What kind of point is that?

#2- Fed was a better baseliner than he was a serve+volleyer, simple as. He has insane talent but honestly think the 2000s conditions were the absolutely perfect storm for him. I agree in 2010s the slower conditions hurt him, but I think the mid 2000s were absolutely optimal for his style, which coincidentally allowed him to win 15 slams. Doesn’t sound like the wrong era to me.

Certainly not winning 20 in 90s, that may suit his game but will be slam overall
His best matches are Wimbledon 2003 SF and Wimbledon 2006 QF(and others on fast hard like rod 2007 or us open 2004 f). Both against a servebot/SV player

If it’s their prime versions then Fedovic aren’t beating Sergi, and you can forget about RAFA beating PETE indoors. But my OG fav Chang (the BOAT) could/did :p:cool:

And he lost first round to Ancic in 2002, you are not getting my point, Fed will love 90s condition but he will not win 20 slam in that era
