Did the blister on Nole's left foot affect him so much ?

Djokovic was defeated only because of the blister on his foot ?
Another question :is this kind of player like Stanimal the natural enemy of Djokovic?

No.

Players play with such problems regularly.

It is that people only see/notice this when the players use it as a way of getting some rest and focusing mentally which is to say in crucial moments and that makes people believe that this is the reason why they have trouble.

Considering that it was pretty obvious it was cramping which was causing his problem and not his blisters, no, the blister was not an issue until it needed to be. Most players on tour deal with blisters all the time. Especially Nadal. That is what happens when you shave your shoe soles down so you can slide on a hard court.

Is this a variation of the famous 'Nadal only loses when he's injured' theory ? Everyone has blisters, even us amateurs. To think that's an issue is laughable.

When the cameras zoomed in on Novak's foot during the first MTO, it was very unimpressive. I played with a more painful-looking blister just a few days ago.

It's just a blister. I'm sure it was annoying, but I'm just as sure that Novak has played through far worse things. It shouldn't have affected him.

I like how people who have not played tennis start tearing their hair when something like this is shown.

It is the ultimate mark of someone who does not know what comes with the territory.

Fans that moan about how this or that player was not "100%" and that is why he lost.

It's not too big of an issue, but if it hurts, it's a hindrance.

I have recurring blisters on my dominant hand--one in the middle of my palm, and one on the outer edge of the base of my index finger. The former doesn't hurt so much, but the latter actually prevents me from swinging properly because it stings a fair bit.

Blisters that get in the way of loading or running properly are a pain as well.

Not saying that the blister is why he lost, but it's not a negligible factor either. It's just that in most cases it's barely significant, and it's quite likely that this one is no exception.

When you're down, injuries can hurt more.

Not that I'm excusing Novak here. I think the MTOs were a poor show TBH.

When Novak took his sock off in second MTO, you could see blood on it. So I guess it's just an ordinary blister, quite ordinary which even children carry and don't mind about it.:oops::oops:

Please -- It was nothing more than a total BS bush league manuever. Nole trying to recover from cramps and trying to slow down Stan and break momentum. I was disgusted. Such crap. Nole was obviously cramping -- nothing to do with the toe. And I was a fan of Nole and have even hit with him. But that crap he pulled really pissed me off.

Yes -- the two was bleeding -- but hate to break it to you - most ATP players have horrible looking feet - blisters and bleeding - especially in the final of a major - is very common and expected. Just the reality. Any high level player knows this as FACT. And I've played with toenails ripped off and hurting like a mother****r and you don't bend over and hold your legs etc. That's cramping. And the fact that Nole did the MTO before Stan served and not even on a changeover was a total abuse of the rules and unbelievably allowed by the chair. There will be some fallout rule-wise from this. Wait and see.

Well done for Stan to put up with it in a professional manor and still win. Good man. Now he's had to deal with both Rafa and Nole pulling this **** in major finals and pushing through and winning.

Very lucid post. Unbelievable that both Nadalito and Djoke used such blatant crap MTOs in slam finals...against the same man.

Let's not forget that Dj was totally fine last year when he also drew blood on his arm. The truth of the matter is, Wawrinka DOMINATED Dj, bossing him about from side to side, and Dj's fragile body simply couldn't handle the pummeling. It was only a matter of time before his body started falling apart from all those gymnastics he does on the court- be it a rolled ankle or in this case a blistered toe. Besides, Dj was quite obviously exaggerating his injury- if you really "can't stand" as he said to Wawrinka during the changeover, how exactly are you able to hit your shots just as well and before and serve at 120 mph consistently, including continuing to slide all over the court? Typical dirty tactics from the Serb.

And Nadal played with far worse injuries than this. Just look at AO 2014- not only did he injure his back, but he had one of the worst blisters I've ever seen, right in the middle of the palm he holds his racquet with to hit forehands. Now THAT's playing through pain-

And he still managed to straight-set Federer with a blister like that. Incredible.

It wasn't blister, it was his cramping. How do you not see that? When they showed him getting worked on he did a very over acting job when they wrapped his toe. I've had blisters and they don't hurt like that. He was just acting so he wouldn't get caught taking time off for his cramping. I think that's a bit low for him. He toutes himself as a man with virtues but he plays the rules this way.

It affected him heavily in the Wimbledon 07 SF against Nadal, he lead 1 set up and things started going badly.
If anyone has footage they should rewatch.

Should have been Federer-Djokovic Wimbledon 2007 Final.

Thank god Djokovic retired cause we would have got a straight sets annihilation from Federer.

No. Djokovic lost because of his serving, which he talked about in the post match press conference is due to his arm issue.

It doesn't take much of a blister to be uncomfortable moving around, even if the shoes are just rubbing on the heel it can be a distraction, admittedly probably 95% of the pros have some kind of niggling injury. I can't understand how these guys blister so easily, Rafa's hands should be so calloused and hard by now that a blister would be out of the question. I would've thought that if Novak had worn his shoes in properly that he would be unlikely to get a blister as well, especially where he did, again you would think that area of his foot would have adapted by hardening after years of stress. I remember Novak had trouble with his shoes (wasn't necessarily the shoes this time) at the Australian Open one year, I can't remember who his opponent was, but his shoes were sliding/slipping excessively on the hard court.

Yes I think nature has put a predator of the Joker into the environment in the form of a Stanimal.

Don't think it matters much because Djokovic was already well behind in the score when he started cramping, even before he called time for the blisters.

Stan would have made a great boxer, I am sure Agassi's father would be very impressed.

Not sure a foot devoid of any blisters will help. Let's get real - Djokovic was blown off the court. He lost to a man on heat. Even having an extra leg wouldn't have helped - though admittedly that would be kind of freaky

Well said, what bugged me was the rushing of the trainer using it as an excuse and the umpire letting him do it. The looking at Stan and saying sorry like he wasn't doing a Chiken***t move.

Not just this but also showed the personal side of Novak and Stan.

For being considered such good friends, Novak should not have undertaken the tricks he usually does with Andy Murray. Making up by trying to be close after the loss is lame.

Stan acted like a big man and said 'That is ok' , though it was clear he was upset as hell. In AO 2014, Stan yelled 'He always does this' . I thought he would say something similar about Novak here. But he just told the umpire only about the MTO before his serve.
