Djokovic: 'I had some tightness on my elbow, pain is there'

If his triceps are hurting his elbow the most likely cause is tendinitis which is no small matter in and of itself
That's possible but also far fetched conjecture. Novak and Serb reporter who interviewed him didn't even mention elbow but arm/muscle problem.

I don't disagree and I don't know what's been said or reported. Simply responding to the guy who connected his elbow and triceps which for a tennis player could likely mean tendinitis.

Probably no mention in that interview, but looks like he did talk about it somewhere else (as the title says).

Sure hope its something minor :)

It's in title of the thread, but not in the OP itself, which is just translation of interview in Serbian he gave to Sport Klub TV.
u have examined him personally? how do u know this?
I don't "know" 100%, but he received triceps massage during MTO and never mentioned elbow. Seems like just fearful/wishful thinking from Nole's fans and haters.

He'll be fine, dude has access to the best doctors, physios, and athletic trainers in the world with plenty of time before the USO.

Yeah, especially millennial teens.

And especially millennial hipster teens. Those clowns are born with vast libraries of stored knowledge about the universe and its every detail.

Watching the Djoko Pouille match, I noticed the sounds of their backhands being markedly different. Pouille's sounds like a quick pop, but Djoko's sounds like a cannon with echo and reverb. You could tell Djoko holds the ball on his strings much longer and rides it through the power pocket.

Novak said after yesterday match that he felt no pain and that he's ready for USO.

Great attitude in losing as usual, I understand he commended Dani for being brave throwing aces even on second serves, what can you say - well done. Also Med's been giving Novak trouble this year so he expected it to be tough. I think the last question was how he spends leisure time / has fun in Cincy, made him smile and mention Goran and Thiem. Didn't know Djo hung out with Thiem, Domi is a very nice chap so can get on well with anyone I figure. Edit: or did he say team instead? Silly me if so.

He said team, it's exactly same how he pronounces both words so don't feel silly.

Yeah, nice attitude in losing but I didn't like the way he lost, saving zero BP and content to just chip the returns back. Played some great tennis with nice variety until collapse too. Imho, trying to return with more aggression in response to Medvedev hitting 2 1st serves would be better. Oh, well.

Didn't rise to the occasion I guess, played the third set like the previous two except with more service wobbles. Can't say anything changed on return, Meds really upped his serve and it's not like Djoe was breaking him left and right before getting broken, even when Med was outplayed he still held 7 times out of 8.

It would be weird to be broken more than once in a BO3 when you make 20 aces.

I've witnessed him practice for a whole hour in 2009, right behind the court. Even a newbie tennis fan could tell that he was way better than the rest. His groundstrokes were/are furious, his movement extraordinary. Wish I had recorded it, had no camera...

I don't doubt he still has elbow pain, but don't use it as an excuse when/if you lost. If you go out there it's assumed you can play 100%. It would be like a writer saying no one was buying their novel, because it got one poor review. He lost to Medvedev because the latter played better. Nothing wrong with Djokovic's elbow. He never called for the trainer, nor the doctor.

Yeah i don't think he would reveal even a slight niggle for the us open even if for a psychological factor. I dont think it's anything major but potentially still a niggle nonetheless. We'll soon find out.

No players pretend injuries as that makes their value go down. They rather hide it. Novak wouldn’t say so if he didn’t mean it.

Cant give your opponent too much to go on if they play the USO, smart to play at half speed.

I was actually delighted how Novak played stylistically. Mental approach wasn't really warrior mode though. He was winning easy and then just collapsed. Sure he'll try harder in USO but just chipping the ball back on return isn't him. Otoh, he always had problems in Cincinnati, even last year, except final.
