G.O.A.T.

now in this interview, Novak saids switching to Plant based diet with gluten free, and dairy free diet made him Faster. this is news to me. I didn't know right diet for you can make you Faster on the tennis court ?
It helped me. When i was a bloated stinky plugged up meat and cheese eater i was a tad slower and also had a slight "ass" stink to me as most all meatballs do.

I hope the MTO was nothing serious so he will be fully ready for Melbourne. And because he has been awesome in 2020 already.

Thank you guys. :D See you around.

Novak/Troicki won their doubles match today. They played vs my French boys hehe. Novak had some issues with his elbow again, hope all is well.

I slept right thru it! Happy they won, but shocked by it and the injury issues! That doesn't sound good defending the AO! The French must be just as shocked! Mahut & Roger-Vasselin are major double's champion! I guess those doubles played last year by Djokovic paid off! "Congrats Serbia!" ;)

How do you evaluate Nole's performance/level of play in a match against Shapovalov? I didn't have time to watch the whole match, I only saw the 3rd to 9th game of the 3rd set, then I had to go away. To be honest, I expected an easier course of the match.
I will watch the entire match against Medvedev on Saturday, I will have free time for this match. Nole has something to return to Medvedev - loses in Cinci and MC in last year.

Djokovic was kind of lackluster in the first set, and got broken from 40-0 up by double faulting like 3 times and spraying his forehand all over the place. He regrouped in the second but then it was Shapo's turn to make errors. I thought the 3rd set was really good where both players played well at the same time, and Djokovic played a great game along with a little luck to break and serve for it. At that point he blinked and started missing 1st serves, double faulted and made more forehand errors to let Shapo back in it. In the tiebreak, Djokovic did what he normally does and just clamped down and turned it up a notch. Overall, not the best match from Djokovic but he will take it but I was really impressed with Shapo and you can see the improvement. This was the best he has played against Djokovic and I think will give him confidence because he was right there with him in this match.

Pretty much this in regards to both Djokovic and Shapovalov.

I'm also looking forward to the match with Medvedev.I've only been able to see the match with Garin.

Thanks for the report. Thanks to this win, Nole again retained his invincibility over Canadian tennis players:
Now Djoker's balance over Canadian tennis players is 23-0 and over Shapovalov is 5-0

My goodness. I had no idea about this. This has to be the best record on tour since Raonic has many scalps. I don't expect him to stay undefeated since he's getting older and Shapo is getting better, but this is really impressive.

That is impressive, I don't know if it would last, I expect sooner or later Denis or Felix will get a win. Especially as they get into their primes and Novak continues to decline with age.

Could have played better, especially when serving for the match, although Shapovalov was on fire in some moments. Djokovic struggled to read his serve throughout.

Still I think he will be pleased with his first week of the season. Two tight matches, two cruises plus playing Medvedev, maybe even Nadal, it should prepare him well enough for AO.

Novak definitely needed this win over Med to stop the bleeding. I hope it boosts his confidence with the matchup moving forward.

It definitely will. He knows he took the best from Medvedev in those last two sets and still beat him, and he also knows he was in control even in that second set and let him into the match. I think it was good to stop the bleeding in BO3 where he is the better player for a set and a half and then let them come back and win. I just hope in the future he can serve a bit better.

An interesting topic: what differentiates Medvedev from Murray? And is the former more difficult for Djokovic than the latter? At times last night Djokovic was impatient, pulling the trigger too quickly, something he'd never do during his romp against Andy.

IT does seem to me that Medvedev has a superior capacity for dictating play against Djokovic than Andy did.

This ATPCup win which Serbia is close to can unleash Novak the beast like DC win at the end of 2010 did, another season for the history books. ;) (y) One can hope!
