Do you consider other posters as your friends?

Well, I do, eventhough I have never met the other posters. I respect posters like Chess9, OrangeOne, Tricky, Fearless1, Kevin T and many others.

I mostly active in the "health & Fitness" forum. Eventhough I don't always agree in every topics with them, I respect them.

But of course, on the other hand, a minority of posters are not nice at all.
What do you think?

Honestly...I would take a bullet for every person here...not in the heart, but a bullet nonetheless.

I have relationships with users besides the forum, so yeah, I consider them as friends, even though I have never seen them in person.

It depends on what you mean by "friend". Having said that, I have experienced internet interactions that transform into physical-world interactions very quickly, so I tend to take internet interactions seriously that way...

Saying TW posters are my "friends" makes me sound like some kind of loner...I have friends outside thanks.

If you have friends outside and are not a loner of any sort, why would you care whether or not you sound like a loner or not on an internet forum amongst strangers that you do not consider friends.

I do not think friend is the right word. Not that people here would not be worthy of the title. I just do not think it is applicable. Comrades? Net-associates? Net-pals?

There are people on this boards that I really enjoy talking to and chatting (maybe not the right word, huh CC?) with, and I am sure that if I were to meet some of those people it would translate into a friendship. Like real life, there are some people on here that I cannot stand (and I'm sure that I fall on some of those lists as well), but I deal with the negatives (most of the time) because the overall experience is a good one.

Bjorn99 is my friend...he sends me a quarter every time I post...unfortunately 'Odds and Ends' posts are excluded from this arrangement :-(

I feel like the people of Odds 'n Ends are the best friends that I have, and I'm sure that you all feel the same way about me.

i´ve only met one person of this forum, unjugon, and we went playing some tennis many times. so, yes, i consider Ruben a "real" friend. also, i have to say there are a coupe of posters that i really like despite i never met them.

There are friends and there are "internet friends." You are all internet friends, which is not a bad thing, but not to be confused with real-world friends.

Curious question. I once irritated several co-workers who used "friend" to describe our relationships in the office. I remarked that they were my co-workers; not my "friends".

In the same light, I think of my fellow TT users as ... co-users.

Sooner or later, all of you will realize that none of us exist. There is no CC, or SoBad or OrangeOne or Phil from Tokyo. They are actually fictional characters created by a sophisticated software program that comes pre-installed by Microsoft on most laptops these days, a complex pseudo-interactive computer game. While you think you are chatting or arguing with other people on this website, you are actually just arguing with your own computer. There IS no Talk Tennis or other users here! Me and everyone else here is just a creation of a program on your laptop.

Anyway, as "CC" would say, Carry on...

semantics

"Who are you chatting with?"

If you say "my friend" then it sounds like it's someone you know in real life.

Like BigServer said, you could easily make friends with people here if you met them in real life. But calling someone your friend whom you've never met just seems a little 'incorrect' to me.

They are not co-workers - they are cow-orkers!
