Do You See A WTA Version Of The Laver Cup In The Future?

You could call it the Court Cup or the King Cup. I think it would be more competitive than the men's version. It would look like this (just going by rankings), for example:

Team World
Ashleigh Barty
Naomi Osaka
Bianca Andreescu
Serena Williams
Madison Keys
Sloane Stephens
Sofia Kenin

Team Europe
Karolina Pliskova
Elina Svitolina
Simona Halep
Petra Kvitova
Kiki Bertens
Belinda Bencic
Johanna Konta

That looks like a fun event, right? I'd watch.

(sorry if this has been discussed already)

Nothing in international tennis will ever be named after Margaret Court again. Ever.

And realistically, it probably wouldn't get the sponsors or spectators. The Tour Finals featuring the Top 8 rarely get a full house.
And regular tournaments can be sparse: only Serena Williams and Maria Sharapova are marquee names. I would have added Venus to that list, but I've watched a couple of her recent matches with poor attendance.

That said, if held in Romania with Halep playing, you might be on to something: she's the only player with an enormous fan base.

No.

Or if it comes into being, I dont see it succeeding or lasting for long.

The Laver Cup took someone with the prestige of Federer to pull it together. It depends on the participation of other big names too. Will the LC be around and popular for how long after Federer retires?

Will then be Jack Sock Cup.

I'd watch/attend a WTA version of the Laver Cup, They can name it after one of the most talented, popular and inspirational woman to ever play the game..... The Sharapova Cup.

A WTA version would certainly be more competitive and unpredictable. I'll get laughed at here but a mixed Laver Cup event would certainly be interesting.

Too many women are super salty towards each other. Can't see it working without very specific team selection. Compared to the men's tour which only has a couple of truly antagonistic rivalries.

It will never work because the WTA is already like the Laver Cup/WWE.

Think about it:
  • Tournaments are only interesting for the last 3 days;
  • There’s already plenty of legal and illegal coaching;
  • There’s plenty of off court drama;
  • And the ladies already play in outrageous costumes and adopt fake personas.

Following the shallowness concept, a Laver Cup for WTA would necessarily turn into a fashion/beauty contest.
