People like to say Jennifer is finished which I think is unfair since she is reportedly planning a comeback and is training hard. She also is capable of overpowering players like Sharapova, Henin Hardenne, Clijsters, and a past best former level Davenport.

However while some think Jennifer is done winning big titles and beating certain players is the same true of Roddick? Sure he played a great U.S Open but players like Federer and Nadal still seem a cut above him. Does anyone think Andy Roddick will ever win a Grand Slam title again? Does anyone think Andy Roddick will ever beat Nadal again? Does anyone think Roddick will ever beat Federer again?

Vote on each of those, it is a multiple choice poll, so give a vote to each you think he will do again, if you dont think he does it dont give it a vote.

I voted yes on all three. He's made 3 Slam finals and the semis at Australia. I think he would have beaten Nadal had he played him in the semis at the US. I'm fairly sure he'll win a Slam again. Either he'll play the match of his life and take down Federer, or somebody will upset Fed early and Andy will seize the chance. And I think he'll beat Roger again at some point for a similar reason, although it may not happen in a Slam final.

He'll certainly never be a threat at the French, so he's no threat to either Fed or Nadal there.

He'd toast Nadal on any of the other three surfaces. To beat Fed on any of them, he'd need to be playing perfectly, and Fed would have to be playing sub-optimally. I figure that'll happen at least once more before he goes away for good. I see Roddick retiring with two slam trophies.

I voted that he could win another slam but only if Federer and Nadal get knocked out. Maybe if Roddick really improves his mental and technical game, plays his A game against Feds/Nadal and they have an off day will he have a chance. However i can't see this happening because Nadal is just going to improve more and more and Federer has so few off games that the chance is very low. Roddick will have to raise his game along with Baghdatis, Gasquet, Murray, Monfils because these young guns will soon vastly improve as they get more mature. So there is a long way to go for Andy before he wins a slam IMO.

Oh? Do you really believe Nadal would take down Roddick at Wimbledon? Not a chance in hell. They could play there next year in the semis. Nadal has gotten better on grass, but he doesn't have the game to take out Andy on grass or fast hard courts.

Roddick ever beating Federer? I like what the BBC wrote in their quotes article:

"You throw enough crap against the wall, something's gonna stick one of these times."
Roddick explains the motivation behind continually facing Federer.

He obviously believes he can...?

I don't see why not. Nadal as far as I can see has more weapons than Roddick.

He is a better returner, better defensively, better ground game, better backhand, better forehand, better mover, and his serve continues to improve.

Roddick will win 1 more slam and in the eyes of most tennis players he will be an average tennis player but will be glorified in the American media because he's the only American player to have an inch of talent in the post-Agassi era:mrgreen:

I'm not convinced he's a better returner, actually. And his forehand isn't that much better than Andy's, especially on non-clay surfaces anyway.

I expect them to have a number of close matches in the future, trending toward 50-50 wins for each, maybe with Roddick edging out a couple more wins over Nadal. This is assuming they rarely play on clay.

Roddick needs to get the number 2 ranking soon. then roidboy could beat Federer in the semis of a slam, then A-Rod will take out roidboy in the finals. Roidboys style of play means he will have only a few more years to win slams, same can be said for Andy. Both need to strike soon.

Roddick will never win another slam. He only has a realistic chance at 3 out of the 4. He is not gonna beat Roger at Wimby or US open, as we have seen. The Aussie open has a surface where to many other players have a shot, i.e. Nadal, Hewitt, Safin, Murray, and others. Unless something dramatic happens, like injury to Federer, and Nadal, Roddick is a one slammer. even with good draws, and favorable rain delays, he could not pull it off. I don't see him having a better opportunity then he did at this years US Open.

I agree with everything but the talent & slam part. I think Blake has, overall, more talent and definately more ability. But you are right, most of Roddicks hype is due to people like the McEnroes, and other announcers who feel compelled to put this guy on a pedestal, regardless of his accomplishments.

He definitely will at some point. I see him getting up to around 4 slams by the time he stops winning slams for good. He has the talent, and now he has the direction again.

That would make two of us. Nadal would have to stand WAY back to have Fed-like success against Roddick's serve. In which case Roddick would take him wide on both sides and open the court up. And I still haven't seen Nadal flatten out his serve enough to think Roddick would have trouble with it.

And Roddick having the grass/hard/carpet advantage and Nadal on Rebound Ace/clay.

Make that 3. Plus, from what I've seen, people who are willing to step up and be agressive can dictate play to Nadal. I don't think Rafa has faced too many players who can average serves in the 130 mph range. What I saw of the Rafa's loss in the US, he's vulnerable to people who are willing to step in and be aggressive. Youzny was really attacking Rafa. Rafa didn't really seem to have weapons except for his speed.

As much as I think their rivarly so far has been good for tennis, I don't see Rafa beating Fed too much more on any surface but clay, even with his lefty advantage. And frankly, I think Fed might fear Andy more than he fears Nadal. For instance, after Wimbledon this year, Fed was asked how the match ranked in his matches at Wimbledon, and he said Andy was harder to beat.

I think Nadal annoys Fed, and he gets frustrated and just wants to show he's better at anything Rafa does, instead of stepping in and dictating by taking balls on the rise and coming to net.
