seriously...it's over when an up and coming american player like harrison is playing djoker so u get the US player vs big name player combo still gets trumped by sharapova against some no name...

espn will air WTA matches, mindless commentary after the match in their wimbledon studio with evert and hannah storm about WTA players, and then maybe some men's tennis. it wouldn't be so bad if the WTA was not so awful to watch right now.

WTA WTF...I logged on to complain, as well. ESPN was on an American kick the last couple days, but I guess if you're a screamer you get priority. Even if you're not on Centre Court. Tennis Channel was great during Roland Garros, but they're worthless for Wimbledon coverage. Super pissed.

Side note: HiRO - cute pup. Is that a husky or malamute? I've got a 9 year old sibe. Great dogs.

She’s a Russian not an American. That said, you’re right. Worst coverage I’ve seen. On-line is the only way to go for this tournament.

What time was the match? Be aware that more women than men are able to watch matches during usual work hours, being home with kids or whatever, and they may find women's matches more compelling than men's matches. ESPN doesn't leave very much to chance.

(In my place) They were showing the Lisicki match but then switched to Federer at 3-0 in the first set. I had sent a stinker to them at that time (email) -- don't know if they read it, or could have done anything, since the transmission comes from UK.

Well Djoker was almost a lock to win .. sharapova was down 2-5 in first set before winning the first set. Pironkova has been a great performer at Wimby -had beaten venus twice here and reached the SF in 2010
It was definitely more interesting to watch as an upset could be likely there.. Also a women's match is best of 3 they can always switch back to Djoker if it turns interesting particularly if Djoker had lost the first set

They were only showing Sharapova because she was about to lose the 1st set. If she was cruising, no way would they show her over Novak.

Her name is Tsvetana Pironkova -- a.k.a. the semi-finalist who's beaten Venus multiple times. It was pretty clear she was going to be a threat to Sharapova. Being a fan of tennis, and not just American tennis, I'm glad to see intriguing match-ups.

WTA is in no way "awful" with thinking players like her, Clijsters, Kvitova, Radwanska, Paszek, Cibulkova, and the Williams sisters (who I don't particularly care for).

That being said, I also completely agree that ESPN sucks. The Sharapova hype makes tennis less than enjoyable to watch at times, and I'll be glad when someone else takes the top ranking.
