Favorite Hitter?

With the slew of practice videos that people have of Federer, Nadal, Djokovic, Murray, and other ATP Pros online, there's got to be a personal favorite(s) for everyone.
My favorite players to watch practice videos of are Dimitrov(who SERIOUSLY needs to have more videos, C'mon Tennis Youtubers, Up Your Game!) and the glorious Fed. I love flat and powerful shots that zip down onto the court.
Who's your favorite player to watch practice/hitting videos of?

Fed, because of his crazy slices. I mean they are awesome.
NO wonder they confuse the field.

He almost has the same motion for short and long slice. And for different types of underspins. So hard to read.

I mean by his motion you think he barely touched the ball, then ball comes long.

Just glancing over the thread title got me seriously confused and concerned... It did not say "Favorite Hitler"...

I think Rafa's hitting sessions are more fun than his matches.

Murray is a good one as well.

Djokovic is more fun to watch in matches than in practice in my opinion, though the one live practice session of his I did watch in London 2010 was great fun.

Why do you think Rafa's hitting sessions are more fun than his matches?

Is he less serious then and tries different stuff?

I enjoy watching Berdych & Fed practice. Also Dolgo & Dimitrov.

This video, which I'm hoping you've already watched, suits your description nicely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2Sq3XyLXuY
(The slicing starts in the later half of the video)

I'd say Fed is my favorite. Have only seen the Heavy Hitting one with Dog and Monfils. Since The Green Mile mentioned Dolgopolov, I clicked on the first video listed which is from Indian Wells this year. Damn:shock:

Like you guys always say, they make it look sooooooo easy:)

Also like watching Murray practice. Nothing too special but I like this one

I think there is a "high intensity" Nadal video from WTF that is pretty good.

wonder who says Maxima is their favorite :D

Just noticed this post, my Youtube Channel has some of the best footage of high quality professional hitting sessions like my legendary Safin Lu practice. Check it out.

Oops, didn't see this post, work is killing me.

Love Rafa practices because he hits WW forehands and goes for winners frequently. Even his rally balls are fast and heavy enough to be winners had he hit them in actual matches. Word is that he hits harder in practice sessions than in matches, to work up his courage and technique during crucial points. I can't argue with that with a 14 slam winner, but one can dream...

I always wished he could play like that in his matches. Summer HC swing 2013 was closest by far.

I struggle to watch Nadal's matches (not a fan of grunting and sometimes he takes too long), but I love his game, his practice sessions are amazing to watch. I love watching Fed's practice because they are therapeutic and then watching Rafa its insane. No one has hit the ball like Rafa.

I really dislike Dimitrov's strokes, he has this weird body position which makes it look like he is really trying to look pretty. His backhand has a really awkward looking finish. He also plays well too far behind the baseline.

Djokovic in practice looks so relaxed and easy. I still feel like Djokovic has really poor balance (sometimes) in matches but can contort his body so well.

True. Rafa's balls don't seem as heavy in practice. They are more flat. I love watching his balls during practice, like yourself. Also he varies things in practice so his balls also seem a lot heavier there too.

Why do you think his balls are so heavy in matches? You think it's mental?

Sugarpova is my favorite practice hitter... no grunting.

My favorite Hitler... that would be Moe in the Three Stooges WW2 short.

Other than the Rafa's groundies not looking heavy in practice, agree with both. There's something special about Rafa's groundstrokes, especially in practice. Not quite sure how to explain it, but I can say they're by far the most explosive groundstrokes on any pro I've seen in real life and on the telly.

It's also probably the combination of the ball trajectory and pace. The power he generates (especially off the FH side) leads you to think that the ball will have a fairly low net clearance, but it rockets into the air, before cannoning down into the court like a cannonball. I know from playing tennis myself as well that a groundstroke like that will be upleasant to return.

Dunno about you, jg153040, but Rafa's groundstrokes look incredibly heavy to me:

Oh haha. Then I wouldn't know.

I'm pretty sure NSlamKing would know, since you know, he seems like he's got personal experience in getting slammed by Rafa haha
