Favorite playability/feel/touch non-gut string?

Have you ever tried a string that felt like magic. It communicated to your hand and arm what it needed to know to hit your best shot. With this string it was easy to make tiny adjustments to add a little more spin or a little more power or a little more depth, etc. You could really feel the ball on the strings. Everything felt great. You just loved playing with it.

I DO NOT mean softest or most comfortable. I’ve heard good things about Klipper Zyex, X-1 Biophase, Maxim Touch, Wilson k-Gut.

What’s your best playability/feel string?

I know its not soft but for the first 3 hours Luxilon ALU Power is amazing...its got all the feel/touch I need when fresh...I wont even comment on the baseline :) (most people feel polys have horrible feel but I just feel this way about luxilon ALU)

I love a crisp fresh strung syn gut also...

hoodjem, my favorites are two of the four multis you listed.
Multis felt best and performed better in my rackets compared to any poly and synguts already mentioned.
All my rackets are mids.
I may have a different comment on strings with larger racket head rackets.
The largest racket I used with any regularity was the PS 6.1 Classic . Even in this racket the multis performed and felt better.

Kgut pro 16G is without a doubt my favourite non-gut string for feel on my K90. Nothing else I have tried at the moment comes close (and I have tried, NXT Tour, Lux BB AP Rough, Prince Syn Gut, Wilson Spidex etc on the K90s). I am thinking of trying a 17G KGut Pro on the K90 with the 1.20 Silverstring in a hybrid...

Surprisingly, on my Pro IIIs, the Signum Pro Poly Plasma 1.18G plays with incredible feel . I am going to try Kirschbaum Pro Line 2 1.15G next on the Pro III. I have had some multi strung on the Pro III but for some reason, the feel there but not the feeling of total control that I get with the SPPP.

For me Gamma TNT2 -- tons of feel and also good power and great spin. Feels very responsive through a wide tension range.

Wilson's K-Gut *Pro*; Babolat's Xcel Power too.

Of the standard solid-core synthetics--Wilson's Extreme *Control*, when available.

I've been hooked on Tecnifibre 515 for years, to save my arm. (I string up high on a stiff frame.) NRG2 is nice, but it goes flat too quickly. I'll try X-1 Biphase soon, probably my last string experiment.
I just tried Babolat's bargain-priced natural gut string, Tonic+, but I guess since it's a 16 gauge, and I'm used to a 515 17 gauge with its nice bite, I might sadly cut it out. $45 down the drain....

Another vote for Wilson K-Gut and K-Gut Pro: Extremely cost effective

You are describing the way I feel about K-Gut and K-Gut Pro.

If you are like most of us who have to pay for racquet stringing labor, then it is worth knowing that K-Gut and K-Gut Pro provide about 90% of Babolat VS natural gut performance, while lasting about the same time. But natural gut is often around 50% more expensive to almost twice as expensive, especially if you have to pay the higher stringing labor costs.

At least these are my experiences.

I know it's popular among many here to keep searching for the "best" frame / shoes / string / etc. But I tried a bunch of strings and when I found Prince Lightning XX I stopped looking. Good feel. Holds tension well. Lasts longer than many of the "popular" non-gut strings.

I'm with KK on this one. When you find something you like...just stick with it and work on other things. For me, after trying dozens of string setups including hybrids, I stopped looking after using Head FXP Power 17. Crisp, good pop and nice on the arm. Also lasts long enough for me. That said, there have been some good recommendations in this thread and it is definitely worth picking a few to demo.

KK and SS,

I'm with you: I'm looking for that one string (or hybrid combo) that will do it for me--when I find it I will stop looking.

I'm not addicted to trying every string out there. I want to work on my game, and forget about my strings--after I find that one string.

Prince Lightning XX and Head FXP Power sound like worthy contenders.

i found lightning xx to lose tension rapidly if not given a prestretch before stringing.

i guess you'll never know if you like it until you hit with it yourself. for every string there seem to be favourable and unfavourable opinions. good thing is lightning xx is cheap enough that even if you didn't like it it's not a huge waste of $

Gamma Professional (Live Wire) 16g/17g is definitely the best non-gut string I used -- control, power, sound, durability, movement...

I love Wilson Sensation and Prince synth gut w/duraflex..they feel and play great, but I break them in about 4 sets...Playing 3 times a week in the warm weather, I can't afford that.

My personal fav is Prince Duraflex...

From reading your signature you might like:

Prince Synthetic Gut Duraflex 18g
Gosen OG Micro 18g

Nick

i second this as well, i keep trying others, but these always are a nice string to return to
i have these on the mians with technifiber polyspin ont he crosses, surpricingly good combination
good power, good spin, and lots of control on volleys because of the poly, good combination for me since i am not a string breaker, but then again i am using the 17g not the 18g you mentioned

Gosen Micro's and Topspin's are awesome strings.

I keep hearing ton's about these new Pro Supex Blue Gear strings too...but have yet to order any.

Back when I was still using racquet that I now hate, I had tnt2 in a liquidmetal 4 @ 57lbs and hated it more than anything ever.

My current faves:
syngut: Prince Lightning XX
multi: Head RIP Control and Tecnifibre X-1 Biphase
poly: Kirschbaum Competition

I haven't tried Isospeed Professional but I imagine it feels like RIP Control
