That is an exhibition tournament. Doesn't mean Roger will play in the official ATP tour till 2023. Or maybe yes. We will see.
But that kind of tournament usually is a preparation for the new season. Two things are quite clear, at least for me:

1) Federer wouldn’t be interested in competing there without being a serious ATP player anymore and surely doesn’t just need the money.
2) As much as Federer is loved everywhere, organizers would never take a spot away from a player who needs actual preparation for the AO, because that would be too laughable. There are other opportunities for exhibitions with Federer after his career.

Wow! That means Federer gets four more years of practice! With all of that practice, Federer will have a lot more strength, speed, better reflexes, endurance, tennis smarts than he ever did before. And he'll be much less injury prone too, since he'll have four mores years of practice at avoiding injuries. I wouldn't be surprised if Fed hits a height of 7 feet tall at age 42 either.

Back in 2006, Federer was only 5 ft 2 inches tall with a body weight of 90 pounds. His max first serve speed was 75 mph. His most powerful forehand shot that year hit 60 mph.

I really cannot wait to see how much better Federer is in 2023. The only problem is that by then, the average player will be 8 feet tall with an average first service speed of 200 mph. And the average player will be able to cover the whole court in 2 seconds with his 40 mph top end running speed.

Evolution is amazing.

Evolution is the GOAT. But practice is easily in 2nd place.

Unfortunately he has no option left but to play. I am sure he will prefer to give him chance to retain this most important records rather than hopelessly witnessing getting those surpassed.

I guess this simply means Fed will commit to this tournament as long as he still plays, ergo he won't play another exho in that period

... Two things are quite clear, at least for me:

1) Federer wouldn’t be interested in competing there without being a serious ATP player anymore and surely doesn’t just need the paid a very significant amount of money.
2) As much as Federer is loved everywhere, organizers would never take a spot away from a player who needs actual preparation for the AO, because that would be too laughable. so obviously he will receive a wildcard into any tournament he wants to play so long as he wants to play.

I fixed the few typos.

That will take him up to 43 (or 83 according to a popular TTW ageing policy).

I'm sorry but this is a very unobjective post. You seem to be calling into question the great age of the mighty Fed. In fact, Fed already turned 970 long ago, as he has been the oldest human on record for a while, and Methusaleh lived to 969. And 970 is basically 1,000, so Fed is at least 1,000. This is by the basic principle of rounding up to round numbers. And it's been years since Federer turned 1,000, so he must be at least 5,001 by now, which makes him 10,000 by the same principle. In fact, we should probably just go the whole hog and accept that he's older than the universe itself, which makes him at least 14 billion years old, which rounds up to 15 billion, which in turn rounds up to 20 billion, ad infinitum. Federer is, in fact, infinite.

Eternalerer shall have his dominion!

When you consider that he's had no fewer than 873 bazillion cracks at major trophies, 20 seems a fairly paltry output.

Given another several eons to work with, would one million more jams really be too much to ask?

Retiring 20 years after his very first Slam title would be an opportune moment indeed. We’ll see how this turns out.

Robert Federer is actually nudging his son to sign contracts to play in China for the next 20 years. He is in love with China after his very first trip there this week.

They definitely miss John. They were PERFECTION with him. Still epic though :) but nothing will top their days with John. That guitar. That voice :p
Did you listen to the Getaway album?
Yeah. Dude, I really liked the sound they went back to on that Californication album bitd. Was listening to it online tonight, and came across this B-Side to the "Scar Tissue" single (I guess?).

"Gong Li." Have had this on repeat.

Sick. Gorgeous.

O gosh don't get me started on their B-sides :p

Happy you got your life today :)
I was disappointed that they played the Super Bowl, to be honest.

Not many that would turn down the opportunity, I guess. Especially in the late stages of a career.

Still, tho. They used to be more "punk." :)

I guess you wanted to be funny? Fail.
Doesn't really mean anything, the moment it becomes clear to any of the big three that they can't win another slam they will hang em up imo
Fed haven't won slam for almost 5 years in 12/17 period. Its not problem for him to play slamless...

OT. Its nice for me Fed hang around while his records fall one after another... He will witness that from first row, will be asked about it in many occasions... Hope for some kind of his outburst in interview...

Also, I think Rafole won't allow themselves to retire before Fed, so another possitive thing about Federer being on tour long time...

And he had plenty of chances and was a top 3 player during those years. Ridiculous and brainless to suggest otherwise. I'm talking about him really being finished.
