Federer Australian open shirt and shorts

For Pete's sake where can I find John Isner's Bass Pro Shops hat? It just doesn't seem to be available on a bricks and mortar basis any where in Australia; obviously I need to try it on for size first, as presumably what fits him probably won't fit me.

presents a disappointment once again with Federer

Uniqlo really created some wonderful on-court gear for Nishikori and Djokovic but I'm sure the situation is fairly fraught now that Roger is on-board.

He is probably very conscious of ever "clashing" or appearing to be wearing something inspired by the lines that Djokovic or Nishikori pioneered.

I just picked up the two alternate Nishikori outfits on the Australian Uniqlo site.

A little while ago someone claimed to have seen two people wearing brand new Uniqlo shirts with the RF logo on the front and a uniqlo logo on the back near the neck (?). Can't remember who it was but when they were pressed for evidence they said they could have taken a photo but were worried about doing it (?) so there was some mystery over whether the shirts actually existed or whether it was a little bit of hopeful thinking or even, dare I say it, "creative writing".

Here is the ACTUAL shirt that Uniqlo has just released with the Roger Federer front design for this year's AO. No RF logo, as expected. Very similar to an earlier release bearing Roger's signature. I like the design (wouldn't wear it myself, but I can see it appealing to Federer fans).

It's amazing how many tennis players that 'don't want to look fashionable or flashy' coincidentally discovered Uniqlo's 'quality materials, tasteful colours and reasonable prices' at exactly the same time that Roger came on board. it's like Federer gave up a Porsche Carrera 'ambassadorship'/sponsorship for a Nissan Versa sponsorship, and suddenly everyone is prepared to drive around in Versas just to look like Rog, all the while extolling the cheap and cheerful/value for money virtues of their new budget transport. Pathetic.

Good guy Rog is all about appealing to the less fortunate and less wealthy masses.

It’s all about philanthropy after all. :cautious:

They're playing super safe with Federer but they should remember that, sometimes, being so afraid of losing make them far apart from winning.

Bland, uninspired... I think Federer deserved a bit more. At lease some stripes in the shirt, some lines, anything.

Looks like old man clothes for the old man.
Thought they finally figured out how to dress him at the Hopman Cup. Finally got a good fit.

It's almost like it was a good decision by Uniqlo

Yeah, because enticing tennis specific try hards to buy whatever sad offerings they now deign to provide is having such a huge positive effect on their bottom line - I doubt the blip is even statistically discernible.

I just received the kit and color was slightly darker than I thought.
material and fit was same but the design was different than I thought.
initially thought it's just normal boring polo design but as soon as I wore the polo. I realized that the polo has a double collar design.
the first button is way down than normal polo because of a double collar design. I always open top button but I might need to close both buttons...
this polo makes uniqle design (from positive aspects) or weird design (from negative aspects) hahaha.

Exactly. Why get this guy whose gonna be wearing your stuff appealing to other fans other than Nishikori and give him such plain outfits.

Only thing I can think of is that Roger actually has more input than we know. He may be calling the shots (and not doing very well)

Time/prep was not on their side. I don't think they were prepared, because Fed was negotiating with Nike until he wasn't.

He looked like a smurph in the all blue last year. Their color choices are fine, but not for both shirt and shorts, remember wawrinka in 2016 at the us open, eggplant/plum vogue. He needs to mix and match not wear it as a uniform. Only tourney where kits should be 'a la page' is wimby

Has anyone in Europe or the UK been able to find the shirt/shorts? I can't find it on the UK site.

This limited distribution is awful

Not sure if actual pic might help or not since same as front pics of this thread. Will post it soon.
BTW I examined polo again and material was changed for front panel. It’s slightly thicker or used different material than US open shirts. Back panel is same as US open material. Seems like someone from Uniqlo read my initial impression on US open shirts about thickness of material especially white shirts haha.

I wish that Uniqlo can apply innovating design to Federer's clothing lines as it did with Djokovic's clothing lines. Nothing I've seen from Federer's line is "inspiring".

Be patient. Probably Uniqlo just plans releasing those items slightly later for some countries.
I was in Korea last month, Pink Fed shirt and white US open shirts and shorts were available around Mid-Dec.

Somewhat I agree but This polo design is weird/unique design because it’s kind of double collar like design.
You will understand as soon as wearing the polo how different it is ^_^
It’s just second productions after Henley style so Uniqlo will do more in the future.
Honestly uniqlo should make different shorts design though but does not matter S-XL blue shorts are gone in US.
Possibly restocking later but not sure it will happen.

A few people here at work just received the new Federer's Uniqlo shirt and I looked at it and I really do not like it. As I've said before, it does not look "inspiring" at all. If you compare this shirt to Djokovic's 2015 USO and 2016 Wimbledon style, Federer's uniqlo shirt looks awful.

The Federer's short is pretty the same as either Nishikori or Djokovic Uniqlo. I happened to get 30 shorts and 30 uniqlo non-collar shirts from Uniqlo (Uniqlo on the left chess and right hand sleeve) for $9.99 each a few months ago. I gave them out as Christmas gift to relatives. Cheap and simple.

That’s why I was saying “ weird” and “unique” at the same time hahaha.
Honestly I am not the fan of this design but I understand what uniqlo tried to do with it.
Seems like a little outdated design but someone might like the design.
Very hard to please everyone ^_^

This is the outfit he's gonna wear for the AO? Doesn't look like much of a statement. Nishikori's outfits are better.

Shouldn't they have new designs by now, its like the same design as last years.

The Wimbledon and US Open shirt isn't the same design. It had the same collar but the bottom and the shoulders are totally different. This one is like the US open except the collar is totally different. This is designed by a LaCoste designer and maybe Fed prefers the clean basic style.

How is it the same design with the differences I mentioned? Nike had Nadal in the same shirt/shorts/shoes combo for 3 years with just changing the color of the items. Then they changed the stripe printed on the shirt and again he wore it 2+ years. Even Fed's 16,17,18 AO shirts are the same exact shirt but in a different color with different prints. At least here the sleeves/ bottom trim/ collars are changing. The issue I see is I wish it had more stripes or details instead of being one color with tiny trim stripes.

Maybe you have a better eye for seeing the small changes, you should quote me and insert photos to show me what you're seeing. I would have expected by now they would have some sort of different pattern or color design, not the same solid color block.

Obviously I noticed the collar isn't the same as 2018 but I don't see what you're saying about the USO and Wimbledon differences. To me they looked the same.

Look around the shoulders area. Sleeves were connected in different places. The white USO18 shirt also didn't have the red line near the button area. Don't know about the uso one, but the whole wimbledon set had a darker colored logo compared to Novak's and Kei's lines.

So subtle, I wouldn't call that creative or super design worthy. IMO they can do better.

I'll take the Uniqlo design of Djokovic over this anytime. Federer's design looks "bad" comparing to Uniqlo Djokovic

I love Nishikori's designs. Tons of variety and it really fits him as in style wise. This line for Federer is too plain, Nike was too loud, I would like to see something in between.

When did Roger join the Cincy Reds organisation?
