Federer Fan's: Rafa's 20 or Nole's 18?

a) Rafa gets to 20 and matches Roger's record, the Holy Grail of Tennis
b) Novak gets to 18 and is dangerously close to Fed and gets a DCGS, although stops Nadal to reach 20

Nadal really tested peak Fed to the max. He's the guy that snapped Fed's record 56 match winning streak on hard courts. He also snapped Fed's record 65 match winning streak on grass. Nadal kept tennis from being boring by stopping Federer from completely owning tennis. I prefer neither nadal nor Djokovic. If Nadal wins Slam record is gone. If latter wins weeks record is gone. So I prefer Thiem. If forced to choose i go with Novak - because he is fully deserves to take weeks record. He is that good. Can't say it about Nadal - as 13/20 Slams gonna come from SINGLE event. This guy should not hold most important record in Tennis.

By rooting for Djokovic you increase your chances for Djokovic to end up with both of these records (slams and weeks at no.1) and then Federer will almost have no claim for GOAT. But if Nadal ends with the slam record we can still argue that Federer has an extra 100 weeks at no.1. There’s no question about it you must root against Djokovic, and if possible light candles in front of religious pictures while doing it!

Nothing is a lock in sports, nothing. 4 more slams is a lot to win, he is 33 years old, the young players are getting better... would I be shocked if he wins 4 more? No, but do I think it is inevitable? Nope.

Did I think my favorite all time player Edberg wouldn't win another slam after the 92 USO? Nope. You never know when the winning will stop, injuries, lack of motivation, another player goes on a tear winning everything? Who knows.

And Djokovic beat a prime Nadal 7 straight times across three different surfaces, the longest winning streak that any member of the big three has had over another. Always amazes me how people seem to believe that beating a ‘peak’ Federer is the only conceivable barometer of a player’s greatness and that a player who hasn’t achieved this feat according to a subjective eye test is somehow less deserving of his his greatness being acknowledged. Federer is without a doubt one of the greatest players to have picked up a tennis racket, but again this is indicative of how overrated the guy is around here.
